About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Ezgi, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, work-related stress, and the effects of painful or traumatic experiences.

My approach is informed by psychodynamic thinking, with a particular interest in attachment and relationships. Together, we may explore how earlier experiences continue to influence the way you feel about yourself, manage emotions, and relate to others. Understanding these connections can help you recognise recurring patterns and feel more able to make conscious choices.

As an integrative therapist, I adapt my approach to your individual needs. Our work may combine deeper emotional exploration with therapeutic techniques to help you manage difficult feelings, communicate your needs, strengthen boundaries, and develop healthier relationships. Where helpful, I also use inner child work to explore feelings, beliefs, and unmet needs rooted in childhood.

My practice is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. I welcome people from different backgrounds and have experience supporting people affected by migration, displacement, and the experience of seeking refuge.

I am an accredited member of the BACP. Alongside private practice, I work as Primary Care Counsellor in NHS, employee wellbeing services, community counselling, and antenatal and women’s self-esteem group therapy.

Practice description

I offer a warm, confidential space where you can slow down, speak openly, and feel truly heard. You do not need to arrive with the right words or know exactly where to begin. We can start with whatever feels most important to you.

You can expect me to listen with care, ask thoughtful questions, and help you make connections between your feelings, experiences, and relationships. I will not simply sit in silence. I take an active but gentle role, offering reflections, therapeutic techniques, and respectful challenge when these may help you understand yourself differently.

Sessions are shaped around your needs. We may explore what is happening in your life now, how earlier experiences continue to affect you, and why certain feelings or relationship patterns keep returning. We may also notice what happens between us in therapy, as this can help us understand how you experience other relationships.

Therapy can help you feel less overwhelmed, understand yourself with greater compassion, communicate your needs, strengthen your boundaries, and feel more secure in your relationships. We will regularly reflect on what is changing, what remains difficult, and whether the work is helping you move towards what you want.

I offer both longer-term therapy and shorter-term focused work. You do not need to decide the length at the beginning; we can consider this together and review it as our work develops.

Above all, you can expect warmth, honesty, and a relationship in which you can gradually feel safe enough to be yourself.

My first session

The first session gives us an opportunity to meet and begin understanding what has brought you to therapy. I will invite you to talk about what has been happening, how it is affecting you, and what you hope might change. I may ask about your current circumstances, important relationships, previous experiences of therapy, and any concerns about your emotional wellbeing.

You do not need to prepare anything or tell me your whole story at once. You are welcome to ask questions about my approach and share any worries you may have about starting therapy.

We will also discuss practical matters, including confidentiality, session arrangements, cancellations, and whether you are looking for shorter-term or longer-term support. Most importantly, the session allows you to experience how it feels to talk with me and consider whether I am the right therapist for you.

If we decide to continue, we will agree on a regular session time and begin thinking together about the focus of our work. There is no expectation that you must make a final decision before you feel ready.

To help you feel comfortable, I offer a 20-minute complimentary Zoom or phone consultation before our first full session. This allows us to explore how we might work together and gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
