About me and my therapy practice

I will treat you as an individual, and with hope. I believe you are the expert on yourself and I aim to offer a safe, warm, non-judgemental space to enable you to look deep within. I want to help you find ways through your issues and feel empowered by doing so. For me, I want everyone to be a fully functioning person who is able to be open to experience, express freely, act independently, be creative and therefore lead a richer life. I want this so much because I know what it is like to not be able to be any of these things.

Practice description

I am integratively trained which means I work with several counselling theories – person centred, psychodynamic and CBT. I have also studied tapping (emotional freedom techniques) and I have trauma-informed training. I believe the therapeutic relationship is the crux from which everything else flows and I tend to work very person centred at the beginning, meaning I work at your pace as we build trust and I emotionally hold you. I want you to feel heard and validated.  I may then work more psychodynamically and make links and interpretations with past experiences to current patterns of behaviour – making the unconscious more conscious and exploring the 'why'. CBT techniques are helpful in understanding your core beliefs about yourself and how your beliefs, thoughts and feelings are connected. I worked for several years at Bromley Community Counselling (renamed ACT) and I am now in private practice. I work within the ethical framework of the BACP.

My first session

When you get in touch, I offer a free 15-minute telephone conversation so I can answer any questions you may have and we can get a feel for each other. If we decide to go ahead, I will book you in for your first 50-minute session. In this session we will discuss number of sessions, boundaries, contracting, confidentiality, and supervision. My aim is to always ensure your autonomy and to provide the professional basis for the beginning of our therapeutic relationship.
