About me and my therapy practice
Hello & welcome. I’m Jenny, and I specialise in working with parents, mums, dads, kids, grandparents and family groups.
Having children changes us like nothing else. It is only very recently that we are starting to recognise the lasting mental health impact of traumatic pregnancy and birth experiences for Dads as well as Mums. And this is just the beginning for so many of us. We push our mental, emotional and physical health to the outer limits whilst contending with sleepless nights, post partum depression and anxiety and in the age of social media, the endless societal and cultural pressures to make it all look sparkling, fun and effortless. As our children grow up, the details change, but the relentless fears, concerns and stress often remain.
As an experienced psychotherapist, family support manager for a children’s healthcare charity, Mum and Step Mum who has herself lived through traumatic birth, and Post Natal Illness including depression, anxiety and PTSD, I have deep compassion for everyone who has become a parent or childcarer, and feels as though they are lost in the deep, dark woods. This is why I have spent 9 years developing my own approach to family distress, called The Clearing.
Practice description
The Clearing is an holistic approach, context and living therapeutic model, comprised of eight interconnected access points or portals: rest, awareness, compassion, acceptance, connection, listening, gratitude and play. Each portal has the power to guide us and our incessant head noise beyond the world of distractions, inner criticism and anxiety, to a place of stillness within. This still place is where we are revived, nourished and inspired. It is where our true power lies.
The Clearing is non-linear and non-directive. It is a creative, gentle, organic flow, allowing us to effectively navigate and manage our life issues from a place of stillness, strength and clarity. My personal experience and that of the people I work with, is that we only heal and integrate when we feel safe, loved and accepted exactly as we are. This is what I offer to you as an individual, as a couple and as a family: warmth, empathic understanding and gentle guidance to see life through a clearer lens.
I work with anyone and everyone, and I have lots of experience of working with people who identify as neurodivergent, both diagnosed and undiagnosed.
At my East Grinstead Practice, I offer ‘The Clearing Village’ group sessions for parents, grandparents and childcarers, who seek balance and equanimity in their relationships to self and other. I also work with just you, or you and your child, or you as a couple with or without your children present. Additionally, I work multigenerationally with groups of up to 10 people, alongside my husband, who is an experienced psychotherapist and clinical supervisor.
I employ an eclectic mix of ideas and approaches in what I do, with the fundamentals being Non Violent Communication (NVC) and Self Inquiry based on The Work of Byron Katie. We learn to take accountability of our own experience and communicate from a place of compassion, which means we develop empathic understanding of self and other. In this way, we are all much more likely to get our needs met.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Jenny and I’m here with you, in yours, your children’s, and your family’s difficulties. Whatever is going on, be it ‘melt-downs’, self harm, school, avoidance/exclusion, substance misuse, spiralling anxiety, running away, separation, divorce, chronic family conflict, estrangement, or a combination of these and more, you need not be alone, and you need not attempt to ‘firefight’ the crisis any longer.
I’m a Counsellor and Facilitator of a process I refer to as The Clearing, which I have designed and developed over a period of 8 years. This way of working is a response to the mental health emergency, in which children, young people, couples and families are suffering greatly, with little affordable, accessible or joined-up help available to them.
I work in green spaces and woodlands in villages around Haywards Heath, as well as an indoor therapy room in the town centre. I also work from my therapy studio in Hartfield based in over 200 acres of private woodlands and countryside in Hartfield, TN7. I welcome clients of all genders, sexualities, relationship styles, cultures, faiths and neurotypes.
Practice description
The Clearing Process is a comprehensive approach with eight interconnected access points: awareness, play, rest, acceptance, action, compassion, listening, and connection. Rather than a fixed sequence of steps, each can serve as an entry point, depending on needs arising in the moment.
We create space to be witnessed, understood, supported and guided towards a place of balance, in which we find life affirming ways of meeting all of our respective needs. The Clearing Process unites us through empathic understanding of self and other, and facilitates change through conscious awareness and action.
The learning and practice of Non Violent Communication (NVC) is facilitated in all sessions, in order that everyone’s feelings and needs are received with empathy and meaningful “life serving” solutions can be found to resolve the confusion, discord and alienation that keeps us in a place of suffering.

About me and my therapy practice
Hello & welcome, I’m Jenny. I specialise in working with Families, where mental, emotional and physical health have been impacted as the result of pregnancy, childbirth and post natal illness, including depression and anxiety.
The process of adjusting to the life consuming role of parent can be intensely de-stabilising for both women and men. Suddenly everything is radically different, and more than ever in modern times, we can experience societal pressure to be ok. Well meaning mantras abound like: “don’t worry - you’ve got this!”
What about when we haven’t got this? What about when it takes all we’ve got to make it out of bed? When we’re hallucinating through lack of sleep, in the grip of daily anxiety, we feel completely disconnected and our relationships are falling apart?
I’m an experienced counsellor, Mum & Step Mum, and innovator of a process called The Clearing. I have developed this approach over a 9 year period in direct response to my own experiences with Post Natal Trauma, Post Natal Illness, and the impact of personal and ancestral birth-related trauma on my mental health and relationships.
I provide a kind & compassionate space for distressed Mums, Dads and Families of all ages to rest, to integrate and to heal.

About me and my therapy practice
In the work I facilitate, we create something key to wellbeing; we create R O O M . Life can be a hectic, complicated and relentless business for many of us, and we could all surely do with a little more mental & emotional room.
When our lives are taken over by our anxieties and broken coping mechanisms, it's like we're living in a tiny, cluttered room; we want to have a clear-out, but we can't move, and so, we can't even begin the process of clearing. We feel stuck & stifled by our own life stuff, and the walls seem to be closing in.
Reaching out is the first step in generating some initial room. Suddenly, you're not alone - now there are two of us working on this, and together, we will clear a way through.
Together, we will navigate the life pressures that have brought you to this moment, and we'll do it with gentleness and kindness, working at a pace that is comfortable for you.
I welcome clients of all ages, genders, sexualities, relationship styles, cultures, faiths and neurotypes. I work with children, adults, couples and family groups.
I utilise a powerful structure in my therapeutic work called, The Clearing, which I originated in response to my feelings of frustration due to what I see as the limitations and circuitous nature of some standard talking therapies.
Practice description
The Clearing is largely delivered outside in nature. We work with six core principles:
* Awareness
* Acceptance
* Compassion
* Connection
* Rest & Play
* Communication
Within this context, we look at our current ways of meeting our needs, which may involve self-defeating, self harming, and unhealthy attachment / addiction-style behaviours. We learn new ways of communicating with ourselves and others, so that we are able to compassionately acknowledge our needs, and become aware of new, positive actions we can take to meet them.
I devised The Clearing over an 8 year period. It is very much an action and experiential based process that is held within a flexible, efficient and non-linear structure. It is informed by my professional training in Psychosynthesis, my work as a therapist, biodynamic gardener and mental health support worker, my own extensive research into body, mind and spiritual practices and my personal lived experience. My aim in developing this process, has been to arm my clients with a powerful set of tools they can use in everyday life, in order to relate to self and other in positive, constructive ways.
I work in green spaces, woodlands and indoor/undercover therapy places in Sevenoaks, Edenbridge, Scaynes Hill, Haywards Heath, Oxted and East Grinstead. I also offer sessions from my own biophilic therapy studio called The Living Room in Hartfield, which is set within 200 acres of private AONB countryside and woodlands.

If you'd like to explore this way of working further, please reach out by phone or SMS on 07379 184741, or you can email me: purplegoldpink@icloud.com. We'll organise an initial chat of up to 25 minutes, and if it feels right for you, we can book a session.
Individual, 121 Clearing sessions are one hour.
The Clearing family and couple sessions last anywhere between 1.25 and 2 hours.
Thank you for pausing to consider my offering. With much warmth & respect, Jenny.
