About me and my therapy practice
My name is Joe Roberts and I'm a transpersonal counsellor working online and in person at London Bridge (SE1) and in Brockley (SE4).
There are many ways people end up seeking help, from addressing a particular event or behaviour to a more general sense that things are not right.
My practice covers mental health (such as depression, shame and anxiety), sexuality and relationships, neurodiversity, addiction, loss, change and more. In the messy reality of life, these issues usually overlap.
Please get in contact for a free 15-minute phone consultation to find out more.
Practice description
My work is done though weekly 50-minute sessions, either online or in person. Once we agree and commit to a time and day, this space is yours.
Counselling can help with whatever difficulty you come with. As a transpersonal therapist, I believe it goes further and points to new ways of being in the world. Focusing on whatever you need to talk about, we'll look for the emerging signs of how your life can change to move you closer to where you need to be.
Often what stops us moving forwards are ways of thinking, feeling and behaving that once helped us survive but, when they are all we know, limit our progress. By examining how you came to be where you are, and how you are now, we can identify these. In doing so, we can loosen their grip, allowing a deeper, freer sense of who you are to breathe.
My first session
Our first meeting lays the foundations for our potential work. It involves agreeing some clear, simple ground rules, for example the regular time and day we both put aside to meet. This is called a Counselling Agreement and is something we'll both commit to before continuing. I'll also ask some questions about where you're currently at and about your background, so I have a wider view of where we are starting. You'll have the opportunity to meet me face and face, and to see if it feels a good fit.
