About me and my therapy practice

Specialist online and face-to-face support for men

  • Is drink or drugs causing problems in your life?
  • Are you continually seeking sex or using pornography even when you don't really want to be?
  • Are you gripped by anxiety or tired-out because of a low mood, depression, and lack of purpose?
  • Maybe you just need to be able to talk through what's on your mind without feeling judged.

If this describes you, then you're in the right place:

  1. I work specifically with men. Men navigating alcohol or drug dependency, compulsive sex and pornography behaviour, chemsex (sex and drug use combined), or the difficult work of sustaining recovery. The men I work with are usually already moving towards sobriety or firmly committed to change; they want support to understand themselves and stay on that path.
  2. I also work with men carrying the weight of past trauma; experiences of abuse, loss, or pain that still affect how they feel and relate to the world. And with men dealing with anxiety, low-mood, shame, low self-worth, or a quieter sense that something isn’t right, even when it’s hard to name exactly what.

If you’re considering therapy but not quite sure yet, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call. No pressure, no commitment, just a chance to talk and see whether working together feels like the right fit.

Practice description

I provide a warm, supportive environment. Sessions are confidential, non-judgemental, and paced around you. I won’t push you to places you’re not ready to go, and I won’t tell you what to do. What I will do is help you understand what’s going on underneath. The feelings, the patterns, the things that keep pulling you back, so you can start to make sense of it and move forward.

I bring years of professional training and lived experience to this work. I know what recovery takes and developing well-being, not just in theory, but from the inside. I’m an integrative therapist, which means I draw on a range of approaches (including person-centred therapy, ACT, somatic work, and mindfulness) to find what helps each person I work with.

I offer sessions online and in person in Sale, Greater Manchester. I’m accredited by the NCPS, a member of the BACP, an accredited counsellor with STOPSO (the specialist organisation for working with sexual offending), and a member of ATSAC (the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity).

My first session

Taking the first step can feel daunting — so I offer a free 15-minute introductory call to help you decide whether I’m the right counsellor for you. During that call, we’ll explore what brings you to counselling, what you’d like to achieve, and how I can best support you. If we decide to work together, our first session will focus on understanding your goals and what’s most important for you right now. From there, we’ll begin to build trust and shape a plan that feels right for you — at your pace, with safety at the forefront and without pressure or judgement.

You deserve support with someone that understands where you are — and helps you get where you want to be.

Let’s begin that journey together. Reach out and see how I will help. Email rhforcrc@gmail.com, or ring 07921 586231 or use the contact form on my website at www.harrisoncounselling.co.uk
