About me and my therapy practice

Hello and Welcome! – Shw mae a Chroeso!

I believe therapy can allow us to understand ourselves better, live more in tune with our values and needs, and make choices that feel more whole-hearted and satisfying.

Change happens when we stop trying to change ourselves and instead pause to notice and fully accept our thoughts and feelings. This sounds simple but can be ferociously difficult! Often we’ve learned to cope and survive by not-noticing and not-accepting what’s going on inside. Therapy can offer the space to explore our inner world with support and containment.

I’m especially interested in repeating patterns in our lives - how we find ourselves in similar situations and responding in similar ways, even though we know this doesn’t give us what we need or want.

I offer a non-judgemental and confidential space. I am open to discussing adjustments that can enable you to feel safe and supported in therapy.

I welcome persons of all backgrounds and aim to treat you and your experience with respect.

Practice description

My practice is in therapy rooms in Cardiff city centre, Abergavenny and online.

I work in English and Welsh.

Mae croeso cynnes i chi gysylltu ar gyfer therapi yn Gymraeg.

I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation to get a sense of whether therapy is right for you and to answer questions you may have.

My first session

In the first session, we’ll look at the contract, and I’ll have some initial questions. It is also a chance for you to say what you’re looking for in therapy, ask any questions, and see how you feel about me and the therapy rooms.

I usually suggest a further two sessions for both of us to consider whether we would work well together. For instance, you might wish to take time after the first session to reflect on what else you might want to tell or ask me.

If we agree to continue, this could be on an open-ended basis or for a specific block of sessions. We can also decide what you want to focus on or agree to take more time to explore what you want from therapy.
