About me and my therapy practice
Tired of feeling like you’re never enough?
You push yourself every day, but inside you feel burnt out, overwhelmed, and stuck. You’ve tried the tips, scrolled TikTok, maybe even blamed yourself—but nothing changes.
You’re not broken. You just need support that works for your brain.
I work with ADHD people —diagnosed, self-diagnosed, or still wondering—who are ready to step out of shame, process trauma through a compassionate, non-shaming lens, and finally feel understood.

Practice description
Clients often say working with me feels like:
- Finally being seen and understood
- Gaining clarity on who they are and what they need
- Letting go of the constant pressure to “fit in”
- Feeling more grounded, confident, and self-compassionate
Reaching out can feel scary, and it’s okay if it feels messy or uncertain—you don’t need to have it all figured out. I’ll walk beside you as we find what works for your brain. The first step doesn’t have to be perfect (and let’s be honest, with ADHD it rarely is!)—it just has to be yours. Pop me an email and we can go from there:

About me and my therapy practice
Exhausted from holding it all together?
You don’t have to carry it alone.
Are you tired of overthinking everything, only to still not land on the right answer? Maybe you’re unsure what you need. Maybe you’re tired in a way that rest doesn’t seem to fix. I’m Amber, and you’re in the right place. I offer therapy face to face in central Edinburgh and online across the UK.
Therapy with me is a place to put it all down, the heaviness, the self-doubt, the “I should be coping by now” thoughts, without fear of being judged. Many people I work with come in feeling like they’ve been holding it all together on the outside, while inside they’re tired, anxious, or falling apart. If that sounds familiar, this is a space where you don’t have to pretend anymore. I promise to meet you with honesty and care.
Together, we’ll slow things down, explore what’s really going on underneath, and start untangling the patterns that keep you stuck. You’ll be met with empathy, respect, and a touch of humour, because sometimes a small spark of light makes the heavy things easier to face.
People often come to therapy feeling unsure, anxious, stuck, struggling with low self-esteem and self-criticism and leave feeling stronger, happier and more confident in themselves. Clients often say therapy with me feels:
Safe: a space to share the thoughts you’ve never spoken out loud.
Steady: you can bring pain, trauma, and vulnerability, and know it will be held.
Honest: gentle truths, no pretence, no jargon.
Empowering: over time, you begin to see yourself and your choices differently.
Lighter: because healing can hold both tears and laughter.
This isn’t about quick fixes or being told what to do. It’s about creating the kind of safety that allows real healing to happen, where you can begin to let go of what no longer serves you and reconnect with who you truly are.
The first step doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to be yours. If you’re ready, I’d love to hear from you.
Practice description
I hold a Master of Counselling (MCouns) from the University of Edinburgh and an honours degree in Psychology from SACAP (South African College of Applied Psychology). I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their Ethical Framework in all of my work.
I have been seeing clients since 2020, supporting people aged 12–70. I have experience working with neurodivergent clients, as well as people experiencing anxiety, low mood, life transitions, relationship difficulties, and identity-related concerns.
My approach is person-centred at its core, meaning I follow your lead and work at your pace. As a neuroaffirming therapist, I adapt how I work to fit you, recognising that traditional therapy models don’t always fit every person. I am based on George Street, Edinburgh, and also work online, so I can support clients across the UK.
Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £65. Students and therapists can access a reduced rate, and if money is tight for you, please mention it, as I keep some lower cost spaces too. I offer both short term and open ended work, and we can decide together what feels right for you.
If you’d like to find out more, you can visit my website: www.amberfieldgatetherapy.co.uk
My first session
Before we book anything, I offer a free 15 minute intro chat. It’s a relaxed chance for us to get a feel for each other and see if we’re a good fit, with no pressure to commit to anything.
If it feels right, we’ll book your first session. This is a full 50 minute session at the usual rate of £65. We’ll spend some of it getting to know you and what’s brought you to therapy, and you’re welcome to share as much or as little as you like. There’s no right way to start, so you don’t need to have it all figured out before you walk in.
