About me and my therapy practice
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means that I am always led by the people I work with, tailoring my approach to each individual client. I have experience of working with clients who have faced depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, identity issues, low self-esteem, perfectionism, anger problems, relationship and familial issues, trauma and addictions of all kinds. I work with adults and young people (18+) - unfortunately I do not work with individuals under the age of 18.
Practice description
I came to therapy personally after reaching a point where my life felt out of control and no longer made sense. I knew I couldn’t continue on the path I was on. Therapy allowed me to find a way forward and to write a new, brighter future for myself. I hope that this is the kind of change I can support my clients to achieve.
My approach is calm, warm and welcoming: ensuring that my clients feel safe, supported and able to get the most out of therapy. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings, with asylum seekers and refugees, young adults in care, those wanting to change their behaviour around drugs and alcohol in the community and within prisons. I currently manage a small team of counsellors who treat addiction and trauma in a residential setting. I have a Masters degree in Addiction Psychology and Counselling as well as qualifications in Trauma Focused CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention. I also have a research background in problematic smartphone and social media usage and have experience supporting individuals change their behaviour around phone and social media usage.
