About me and my therapy practice
Life can be quite challenging at times and things can become very overwhelming and sometimes we just need a little help and support. This is when counselling is beneficial in enabling you to feel more empowered to take back control of your life and welling.
I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties you are experiencing without expectation or pressure. I will support you sensitively and expertly and provide you with a space where you can talk openly without judgement and express your thoughts and feelings freely in confidence.
As an integrative counsellor I draw on several counselling approaches to tailor therapy to your individual needs and goals. I work with you to understand your unique experiences and help you process, explore and make sense your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives and a new understanding of yourself. I will encourage you to gain autonomy, recognise choice and identify positive changes you feel able to make.
Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives and perhaps a new understanding of yourself. Counselling is not about giving you advice but empowering you to make your own positive changes - counselling is all about you
Practice description
I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day to day life.
I will support you sensitively and expertly and provide you with a space where you can talk openly without judgement and express your thoughts and feelings freely in confidence whilst feeling heard and understood. You will be given the time and space to understand your situation which can lead to a positive change in your life.
At the centre of my work is the belief that by offering acceptance, empathy and a genuine presence this will create a space where you can explore whatever you need to without expectation or pressure.
Whilst my core of my counselling practice is person centred, I draw on several therapeutic approaches, incorporating them in a way that fits you and meets your individual needs and goals. I will work with you to understand your unique experiences and help you process and make sense of your situation and your responses.
My first session
Our first session will provide you with the space to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you would like to gain from your sessions. You will be able to talk about what you would like to achieve even if it's just a general idea of your goals.
You don't need to have everything perfectly figured out or share deeply personal details that you are not ready to share, I will work at your pace giving you the freedom and autonomy to tell what you feel comfortable sharing.
The session will also give you the opportunity to get a feel of how I work and you can ask any questions that you may have to see if you feel that we are a good fit. It is important that when considering counselling that the right counsellor is found for you to get the best out of the work you will be doing.
The session establishes trust, boundaries and a foundation for future work. A trusting therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful change and equipping you with the necessary tools to heal and make the positive changes you desire.
There is no obligation to commit to continuing your counselling with myself, you are free to take your time to reflect. I feel that it is important that you feel comfortable with your counsellor.
