About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP registered and accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist, who has also trained in Person-centred Experiential Counselling for Depression (PCE-CfD). I have been providing talking therapy to NHS clients for the last three years.

I am also a multi-lingual psychodynamic psychotherapist working from St Albans and its surrounding areas. In addition to English, I can provide counselling in Bengali or Hindi/Urdu. I offer in-person and online sessions for short and long-term contracts.

I specialise in working with women, particularly older women facing complex emotional challenges. If you are experiencing relationship or emotional difficulties, loneliness or a general sense of being stuck, I am here to help. I also work with issues around anxiety, low mood, depression, fertility, trauma, bereavement, abuse, identity issues, ill-health and low self-esteem.

I provide an empathic, supportive and caring environment with the aim of helping you find effective ways to resolve the issues and concerns that are negatively impacting your life.

Being able to talk to a psychotherapist in a confidential, supportive and non-judgmental space can help you gain a better understanding of yourself and those closest to you.

Prior to my career as a psychodynamic psychotherapist, I gained over 25 years of experience in primary education and leadership as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). This gives me a unique insight into supporting families and children with diverse needs. I welcome clients raising children with high support needs, offering a compassionate space to navigate community stigma and emotional well-being.

Practice description

I offer an initial 60-minute consultation at a reduced fee of £50. During this session, we will explore what has brought you to therapy and discuss how I work, allowing us to consider whether we are a good fit to work together. If we decide to proceed, therapy sessions are held weekly and last 50 minutes and my fee is £60.00 per session.

I am committed to providing a warm, empathic, and confidential space where we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences together. My aim is to help you feel heard, understood, and supported throughout the therapeutic process.

My approach focuses on understanding the underlying causes of current difficulties, often exploring how past experiences may continue to shape present thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behaviour. Through therapy, I support clients in gaining greater self-awareness and insight, enabling them to make more informed choices and experience increased autonomy in their lives and relationships.

Practice description

I am a registered Member of the BACP, and I work to the BACP’s standards of Good Practice and abide by their Code of Ethics.

I specialise in psychodynamic psychotherapy. This approach delves into the root causes of an individual’s current challenges, often tracing them back to unresolved past events. Through psychodynamic counselling, I assist individuals to uncover and understand these hidden influences, empowering them to achieve greater autonomy in their thoughts and actions.

I provide support to adults and teenagers (aged 18+) in short- and long-term work, covering a wide range of difficulties. I specialise in working with women and older adults.

Bengali or Hindi/Urdu speaking clients can benefit from having therapy with me and feel more comfortable expressing their thoughts and feelings in their mother tongue, leading to a more productive and effective therapeutic experience.

My first session

Whether you’re certain you’d like to start therapy or thinking about it, why not get in touch for an initial consultation with me to find out. The initial consultation will last 50 mins and is via video. I offer a reduced initial consultation fee of £50.00 which must be paid before the session. This is a chance for you to see if therapy is right for you and find out about how I work. It is also a chance for you to tell me a bit about you and why you’re seeking therapy at this time.

Following our initial consultation, if we decide to work together, we will agree a suitable time and day each week.
