About me and my therapy practice

I am a warm and empathic counsellor and psychotherapist, offering an integrative style of counselling which can help with issues such as anxiety, depression, loss, low self-esteem and stress, as well as problems within relationships or family dynamics.

My counselling style draws on elements of person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive and existential approaches and is tailored to the needs of each individual client. I provide a non-judgemental place where you can feel safe, validated and understood, building a relationship with you to empower you to trust your innate capabilities. My role is to gently encourage you to explore new possibilities: to question patterns of behaviour, assumptions and defences; to help get to the bottom of what may be holding you back, and enable you to find a way forward.

I have a background in the arts and I also worked for the NHS for many years, so have a keen interest in all aspects of health and wellbeing. I enjoy working with clients of all backgrounds and with a wide and varied range of issues, with particular areas of interest being family issues, bereavement and neurodiversity.

I run my own private practice alongside working as a bank counsellor at a local hospice, providing counselling support to patients and their families.

Practice description

My counselling sessions are held in person at The Practice Rooms or online (via Google Meet), and are offered on a 1:1 weekly basis.

Sessions last 50 minutes and I charge £55 for daytime appointments (up until 5pm) and £60 for evening appointments (up until 8pm).

I offer open-ended therapy, so there is no limit to the number of sessions I offer, but I tend to work in 6 week 'blocks' which enables me to review regularly to make sure that the counselling is giving you what you need, and is going in the right direction for you. If you have a specific number of sessions in mind I am happy to accommodate this for you - just let me know what would work for you.

My practice is neurodivergence-affirming and I welcome autistic clients. I offer a supportive and understanding person-centred environment and can make adjustments according to sensory needs and communication preferences.

My first session

At your first session I will complete a short assessment with you to give me an understanding of what has brought you to counselling. I will ask about your current situation, the support network that you have around you, and what you want the outcome of your counselling to be. This will provide a starting point for your therapy.

We’ll then take some time go through the practicalities of the therapy together and discuss our mutual expectations, which will be laid out in a therapeutic contact. This will lay the foundations for your counselling sessions.
