About me and my therapy practice

I work from a deeply person‑centred approach, which means the focus of our work is always you; your experiences, your pace, your inner world.  I offer a space where you can explore whatever you need to without fear of judgement or pressure. My role is to  help you make sense of your thoughts and feelings while trusting in your capacity for self‑discovery and change.

Creating a safe, grounded environment is central to how I work. Many people come to counselling carrying uncertainty, shame, or long‑held patterns of coping, so I offer a space where those things can be gently unpacked. Empathy is at the heart of my practice.

I am a real person in the room with you, not a blank screen or a distant expert. I bring my authentic self to our sessions; my humanity, my presence, and my willingness to meet you where you are. My lived experiences of chronic illness, neurodiversity, loss, depression and existential issues also serve to inform my practise, as they are paths I have walked myself, not abstract concepts.

Together, we create a relationship built on trust, openness, and mutual respect. Within that relationship, you can explore the parts of yourself that feel stuck, hidden, or uncertain, and begin to move toward a life that feels more aligned with who you truly are.

Practice description

I offer counselling for people experiencing depression, anxiety, and the emotional overwhelm that can come with navigating daily life. These feelings can leave you stuck, exhausted, or unsure of how to move forward. Together, we create space to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, and gently reconnect with your own inner resources.

I also work with neurodiversity, supporting those who are discovering, questioning, or living with neurodivergent identities including Autism and ADHD.  This includes exploring masking, burnout, sensory overwhelm, difficulties with structure, and the emotional impact of feeling “different” in a world that isn’t always accommodating. My approach is accepting, validating, and grounded in real understanding of these experiences.

Loss and grief are central parts of the human experience, whether they relate to bereavement, changes in health, shifts in identity, or the loss of a hoped‑for future. I offer a compassionate space to explore these layers of grief at your own pace, without rushing or minimising what you’re carrying.

Many people come to me during transitional periods, such as menopause, serious illness, caring responsibilities, or major life changes. These times can bring uncertainty, fear, and questions about who you are becoming. I support clients in finding meaning, steadiness, and self‑compassion as they navigate these shifts.

Underlying all of this is a shared exploration of meaning, identity, and what it means to live a life that feels authentic.

My first session

Before we begin working together, I offer a free 20‑minute phone call so you can ask any questions and get a sense of whether I’m the right fit for you. This is a gentle, no‑pressure space where you can share a little about what’s bringing you to counselling and what you’re hoping for. It’s also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and what it might be like for us to talk together.

In our first full session, we’ll spend time getting to know you a little better and exploring what you’re looking for from counselling. There’s no expectation to have everything figured out; we can work this out together at your pace. Sessions run on a rolling contract, which means you can have as few or as many as you feel are right for you. Some people come for a short period of focused support, while others choose longer‑term work; both are welcome, and the choice is always yours.
