About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Imogen. I offer therapy grounded in empathy, non-judgement, and gentle challenge. I am based in Guildford and work in-person with local clients and nationally online.

What will happen in our sessions?

Relational depth is an essential part of our therapeutic work. In our sessions, we will aim to build trust, acceptance, and understanding. We are two different people but the therapeutic alliance involves sharing the same space, and doing so with empathy and respect. No matter where our work leads, our relationship is the foundation for exploration.

Why did you decide to become a therapist?

I started volunteering for a suicide crisis line and loved the work so much that I decided to train as a therapist and dedicate my career to helping people with their mental health. I was also frustrated with the medical model and wanted to centre clients at the heart of my practice.

Will we share the same values?

No two people are the same, but I believe in the importance of mutual respect and shared humanity, which includes anti-racist and LGBTQ+ inclusive practice. I value open-mindedness, whether you are speaking about pornography addiction, recreational drug use, or other aspects of life you are worried about bringing to therapy.

Practice description

How many sessions will I need?

Structurally, I offer open-ended and non-directive therapy, which allows for a flexible and personalised experience. I embrace a collaborative approach, which means we will discuss what you are looking for and how you would like to pace our work together.

What experience do you have?

I graduated with an undergraduate degree in English before studying person-centred counselling and therapy at university. I worked with mental health charities across the county, before starting work as an affiliate therapist for The Eaves.

I have another job in the creative industries, and welcome clients who would like to integrate writing or art into our work.

  • Bachelor's Degree - English Literature
  • Level 5 Diploma - Person-Centred Counselling and Therapy
  • Level 2 Certificate - Self-Harm and Suicide Prevention
