About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Sarah, a creative therapist offering a safe, non-judgemental, face-to-face space for children aged 5 to 15 to explore what they are feeling and how they experience the world. I work in an integrative way, drawing on different therapeutic approaches. This includes child-centred therapy with a non-directive approach, combined with a more directed approach when appropriate.

I use creative materials, art, games, puppets, clay, role play and Sand Tray work to support children in their process or understanding. We may also use therapeutic stories, visualisations or meditations. This offers a space for children to express themselves directly, or through metaphor. This approach can be incredibly powerful, supportive and healing.

Children do not need to be good at art or making things; the focus is on the process of expression. Creative therapy can be a helpful way to communicate when it feels difficult to explain feelings or experiences in words. Together, we can then explore how the brain works, recognise strengths and consider ways forward.

Creative therapy can also support children in processing traumatic experiences, which are often stored non-verbally in the brain. These experiences may relate to parental separation, grief, exposure to abuse or violence, neurodiverse experiences, school trauma, natural disasters, accidents or illness.
