About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ronnie — a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist.

If you’ve tried counselling before and it didn’t quite work, it may be because the relationship didn’t feel right. I work in an honest, authentic way because therapy doesn’t need to feel formal, intimidating, or full of labels.

I’m a BACP-registered, qualified therapist who believes the therapeutic relationship comes first. From there, I draw on different counselling approaches depending on what you need — whether you’re struggling with anxiety, low mood, identity issues, relationships, or feeling stuck.

My aim is to offer down-to-earth counselling where you can speak openly, be challenged when helpful, and feel understood rather than analysed.

I support people navigating:

  • Anxiety, intrusive thoughts, and overwhelm
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • Men’s mental health and emotional expression
  • LGBTQ+ identity, coming out, and internalised shame
  • Relationship difficulties and intimacy
  • Feeling stuck, lost, or disconnected

Many of my clients come from varied backgrounds and communities across Leeds, and I value the richness of your experience.

Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just unsure where to begin, we’ll work together to make sense of what’s going on and find a way forward that feels right you. Therapy isn’t just about coping—it’s about figuring out what your needs are, exploring patterns you feel don't work for you and finding yourself again.

Practice description

You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. You just need to be you. Whether you’re feeling stuck, low, overwhelmed, anxious—or simply unsure what’s going on—it all counts. We all hit those moments.

In our sessions, we’ll work together to:

  • Untangle the stuff that feels heavy or confusing
  • Identify what you need (even if you’re not sure yet)
  • Explore the past if it feels relevant—regrets, resentments, or patterns that linger
  • Find ways of coping that actually work for you
  • Be curious about how you think and feel, and gently challenge what no longer serves you

I don’t slot you into a therapy model or hand out homework. Instead, we stay curious about what might help. Some sessions might feel lighter, others might go deeper—but I’ll be there to guide you and hold the space safely.

You already carry everything you need inside you. Therapy is about finding it, together.

My first session

I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can get a feel for how I work. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get out of it. If you decide to go ahead, we’ll agree on a plan together—how often we meet, fees, and anything else practical. I’ll also ask you to fill out a short form to help me understand your needs before we begin.

I offer flexible in person and online sessions in Leeds during weekday evenings. This means you can find time for counselling amongst work and other commitments.

Many people find it helpful to have regular times each week, which can make getting into the flow of therapy easier but I never dictate a set amount of sessions.

At the beginning it is useful to be consistent and ideally weekly to establish our focus, but thereafter, the decision on frequency is your call.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ronnie — a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist in Leeds. I work mainly with men who feel stuck, burnt out, emotionally disconnected, or unsure why things don’t feel right, even when life looks fine on the outside.

Many of the men I work with haven’t talked openly about how they’re feeling before, or they’ve tried counselling in the past and found it too formal or impersonal. My approach is down-to-earth, honest, and collaborative.

Therapy with me isn’t about labelling you or analysing every thought — it’s about understanding what’s going on for you and finding a way forward that actually fits your life.

I place real importance on the relationship between us. Feeling comfortable, understood, and able to speak freely matters far more than any technique.

Practice description

I offer men’s counselling in Leeds for issues including stress, anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, identity and sexuality, and the pressures many men carry quietly for years.

Men often come to therapy feeling frustrated, overwhelmed, or disconnected from themselves or others. Some feel they should be coping better. Others struggle to put their feelings into words.

We work at your pace, making sense of what’s getting in the way and exploring practical, realistic ways to change long-standing patterns.

I work integratively, drawing on different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs, rather than forcing you into a single model. I’ll be supportive, but I’m also comfortable being direct and challenging when it’s helpful — especially if we notice you getting stuck in the same loops.

Therapy isn’t about fixing you. It’s about helping you understand yourself more clearly, build strength and resilience, and feel more confident in how you relate to yourself and the people around you.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Ronnie — a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist based in Leeds.

Starting counselling can feel daunting, especially if you’ve been carrying things on your own for a long time. I offer a down-to-earth, supportive space where you can speak openly and begin to understand what’s really going on for you.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, men’s mental health concerns, and questions around sexuality or identity.

Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward.

Together, we take time to explore what’s getting in the way and look at practical, realistic ways to move towards a life that feels more balanced and authentic.

Therapy isn’t only about coping with problems. It can also help you build resilience, confidence, and a stronger connection to yourself and others, rather than continuing to live under the weight of past experiences.

My Experience

I’m a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with over five years’ experience, having worked in organisations including Mind, Samaritans, the NHS, and higher education settings. I’ve supported people with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, men’s mental health challenges, and identity-related concerns.

This work has shaped my straightforward, supportive approach and my belief that therapy works best when conversations are honest, collaborative, and grounded in real life.

Qualifications

Post Graduate Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling

BSc (Hons) Psychology

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Ronnie and thank you for visiting my profile. Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’ve been holding things in for a long time. My role is to offer a safe, straightforward space where you can explore what’s going on for you without judgment.

I work with people who are struggling with a wide range of challenges, including depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, men’s mental health, and issues around sexuality and identity. I’ve worked with people facing grief, loss, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, men’s mental health challenges and issues around identity. These experiences have shaped my straightforward, supportive approach and my belief in the value of honest, open conversations in therapy.
