About me and my therapy practice
Has bereavement or another major life change turned your world upside down? I specialise in supporting people through grief, loss, and midlife transitions, helping you make sense of what you’re experiencing and find a way forward.
Grief and loss can affect every part of life – your mood, sleep, relationships, or sense of self. You may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to move on. Counselling provides a calm, supportive space to explore your feelings and begin to regain balance.
I also work with non-bereavement loss, including:
Loss of identity or purpose.
Loss of confidence.
Changes in health or physical ability.
Major life transitions such as relationship breakdown, retirement, or children leaving home.
Practice description
My approach is primarily person-centred, offering a safe and non-judgemental space for reflection and growth. I am also trained as an integrative therapist, drawing on different therapeutic techniques depending on your needs.

About me and my therapy practice
Counselling for Midlife.
Are you feeling frazzled and worn down by what midlife has thrown at you?
Perhaps you feel stuck, as though you’ve spent years putting everyone else first, and now you’re wondering what happened to the life you imagined for yourself.
Midlife can bring unexpected changes – children leaving home, relationship difficulties, ageing parents, health changes, or questions about work and purpose.
Counselling offers a calm space to pause, make sense of what you’re experiencing and begin to move forward again.
You may recognise some of these feelings:
Feeling overwhelmed or anxious about the future.
Losing confidence or a sense of purpose.
Feeling disconnected or lonely in your relationships.
Carrying regret or disappointment about the past.
Struggling to balance the many demands placed on you.
Many people come to counselling wanting life to feel different - to feel:
Happier, calmer and more optimistic about the future.
Less anxious and overwhelmed, with a greater sense of control.
More connected in their relationships.
Renewed self-esteem and confidence.
A greater sense of enjoyment and fun in life again.
Practice description
I’m here to help you make positive and lasting changes.
As a fellow midlifer, I understand many of the challenges that can arise during this stage of life. I’m a qualified counsellor based in Harrogate and also bring the experience of a long career as an NHS nurse specialising in sexual health, contraception, menopause and HIV.
Like many people in midlife, I’ve juggled multiple responsibilities — spinning plates and hoping none of them crash.
I have worked with clients facing challenges such as divorce or separation, children leaving home, bereavement, retirement or redundancy, and the pressures of being part of the “sandwich generation” caring for both children and ageing parents.
If you would like to explore whether counselling with me might help, please get in touch using the BACP contact form or via my website.
I offer single-session therapy, time-limited therapy and ongoing counselling.
I am a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and a registered member of the BACP.

About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes all you need is one focused session to gain clarity, make a decision, or take actionable steps forward. Single Session Therapy (SST) is a focused, one-off session that helps you address a specific challenge or decision. You leave with practical guidance or strategies to make a meaningful difference — no long-term commitment required.
SST is ideal if you are:
Facing a tough decision.
Feeling stuck or uncertain.
Seeking clarity or guidance on a particular challenge.
It can help with issues such as stress, anxiety, conflict, relationships, bereavement/loss, procrastination, or simply feeling stuck.
