About me and my therapy practice

As a counsellor, I work from the belief that different approaches help different people at different times. My priority is to build a genuine, trusting, and collaborative relationship with you, where we can explore your experiences with honesty, care, and at a pace that feels safe.

My background as a Research Psychologist, alongside my clinical practice, has given me extensive experience supporting people affected by abuse and violence. I also regularly work with anxiety, depression, substance use, and PTSD, and have supported many clients from Emergency Services backgrounds.

I understand that taking the first steps into counselling can feel daunting. Life brings challenges that can leave us wounded, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. While it is natural to struggle, you do not have to do so alone. Being met with understanding and truly being heard can be an important part of healing.

In our work together, I aim to offer a steady, compassionate space where your experiences are taken seriously and where we can find, together, what supports your wellbeing and growth.

Practice description

I offer a warm, compassionate, and collaborative space where you can explore what is troubling you at a pace that feels right for you. My practice is grounded in a pluralistic approach to counselling, which means I believe there is no single method that works for everyone. Instead, we work together to find the therapeutic style, tools, and direction that best fit your needs, preferences, and lived experience.

Clients often come to me when they feel stuck, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the way forward. Whether you are navigating anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, identity questions, or a general sense of disconnection, I aim to provide a safe and non-judgemental environment where your feelings are welcomed and respected.

In our sessions, you can expect a gentle and thoughtful pace. I will listen closely, offer reflections, and support you in making sense of what matters most to you. At times, I may offer ideas, strategies, or different perspectives—but always with your agreement and always in a way that honours your autonomy.

I see therapy as a collaborative relationship where your strengths, insights, and inner resources are valued. My role is to walk alongside you, helping you to deepen your understanding of yourself and to move toward a life that feels more grounded, connected, and meaningful.

My first session

To help you get a sense of what it might be like to work together, I offer a free 30-minute initial conversation. It’s a gentle way to explore whether counselling feels like the right step and to ask anything that would help you feel more at ease.

At present, I offer online sessions and hope to offer in-person appointments in the Callander area soon. Each session lasts for 50 minutes.

Our first full session will focus on understanding what brings you to therapy and what you hope to gain from the process. I don’t use structured assessments unless they feel genuinely useful. My priority is to offer a supportive space where you can begin at a pace that feels comfortable.
