About me and my therapy practice

Do you appear to be coping while privately carrying more than others realise?

I became a therapist after a long career in the arts, which taught me to appreciate that there can be more to a person's experience than others realise.

Perhaps you're struggling with anxiety, self-doubt or difficulties in your relationships. You may find yourself caught in familiar patterns, being harder on yourself than you would be on anyone else, or feeling overwhelmed by things you think you ought to be able to manage. Perhaps experiences from your past continue to affect you in ways you don't fully understand.

You don't need to come to therapy with the right words or a neatly explained story. We can begin wherever you are, making sense of things together at a pace that feels manageable for you.

My approach

I believe understanding begins with curiosity rather than assumption. I'm interested in how you experience your life, what matters to you, and how you have come to feel and respond as you do. Rather than starting with explanations, I want to understand your experience from your perspective.

Together, we can explore what's troubling you, how your past and present might be connected, and the ways you've learned to cope. As we begin to understand these patterns, there may be more room to respond differently, develop a kinder relationship with yourself and find new ways of navigating your relationships and everyday life.

My background in the arts continues to inform how I work. I'm comfortable with complexity, ambiguity and difficult feelings, and so you won’t have to make your experience smaller or worry about being too much or not enough. I want you to feel able to explore what's happening for you without fear of judgement, and to know that we can stay with difficult feelings rather than rush past them.

This is your therapy, and we'll work together to develop understanding, clarity and change that feels meaningful to you.
