About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP registered counsellor offering remote counselling (online and telephone) to adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression and significant life transitions. I specialise in bereavement counselling, including baby loss and perinatal grief, and offer remote sessions across the UK.
My practice is primarily grounded in a person-centred approach, with an emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, empathy and collaboration. I also integrate trauma-informed and compassion-focused perspectives where appropriate, particularly when working with grief and complex or prolonged loss.
A significant focus of my practice is bereavement, including baby loss and perinatal grief. I have experience working within Cruse Bereavement Support, NHS-linked services and private practice, supporting clients with a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties connected to loss, trauma and adjustment.
I work in a way that is sensitive to individual needs and pace, recognising that people come to therapy at different stages of readiness. My aim is to offer a consistent, grounded and supportive therapeutic space where difficult experiences can be explored safely and without judgement.
Practice description
I offer remote counselling sessions via online video or telephone. Working remotely can provide flexibility and accessibility, allowing you to attend sessions from a place where you feel most comfortable.
Sessions typically begin by exploring what has brought you to counselling and what feels most important for you at this time. Some people come with a clear focus, while others prefer to take time to build trust and explore things gradually. There is no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready.
You may be experiencing grief, loss or bereavement, including baby loss or perinatal grief, or you may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma or life changes that feel overwhelming. Whatever brings you to counselling, we work together at a pace that feels manageable for you.
My aim is to offer a steady, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can begin to make sense of your experiences and feelings. Therapy may involve exploring difficult emotions, finding ways to cope day-to-day, and developing a deeper understanding of yourself and what you need moving forward.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory phone or video call. This is not a counselling session, but an opportunity for us to briefly discuss what you are looking for and whether you would like to work with me.
If you decide to proceed, I will send a counselling agreement/contract for you to read and sign before we begin. This outlines how we will work together, including confidentiality, boundaries, and practical arrangements.
Before or during our first full session, I may also ask you to complete a brief questionnaire. This helps me to understand your current situation and ensure that the support I offer is appropriate for your needs.
Your first full online session will then focus on what has brought you to counselling and what you would like support with, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
