About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced and fully qualified counsellor offering short and long-term therapy, both face to face in St Albans and online. Over the years I have worked in private practice and within a Hertfordshire-based counselling organisation as part of NHS, Ministry of Justice and OPCC-commissioned services.

Practice description

You don't need to be in crisis to come to therapy.

Perhaps you're feeling anxious, exhausted or stuck. Maybe you're finding the same issues showing up in your personal or professional relationships, navigating a significant life change, or carrying experiences from the past that still seem to influence your life today.

As a Gestalt therapist, I'm interested in what's happening in your life right now, while also being curious about how past experiences may be shaping the way you think, feel and relate to others. Together, we'll explore recurring patterns, the ways you've learned to adapt to life's challenges, and whether those ways continue to be helpful.

My role is not to tell you what to do or offer quick solutions. Instead, I will support you in developing greater awareness, understanding and choice in how you navigate your next steps.

The relationship we build together is at the heart of the work. As therapy can sometimes feel challenging, I offer a compassionate, curious and non-judgemental space, either in a dedicated counselling room in St Albans or online. Clear boundaries and consistency help create a sense of safety and trust, allowing us to explore difficult thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels right for you.

Therapy isn't only about talking - sometimes our bodies tell us things long before we can find the words. I pay attention to how emotions and experiences show up in the body and together, we might notice things like tension, restlessness, heaviness or a sense of disconnection, and become curious about what those experiences might be communicating.

Before training as a therapist, I worked in the corporate communications sector both in the UK and abroad. Alongside my private practice, I work with a Hertfordshire-based organisation supporting people who have experienced trauma, whether resulting from a single event or more complex experiences over time. I also provide training to student counsellors.

My first session

I offer a 15 minute free, no obligation video call to discuss what brings you to counselling and how best I can support you.

Following this, we will book in our first session, a 50-minute assessment, either face to face or online. If you would like to move forward, we will then book in a regular time/day for your sessions. Whilst weekly therapy tends to work best, I am also open to working on a more flexible basis.

I am a registered member of the BACP and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework, with regular supervision in line with BACP guidelines.

If you would like to have an initial conversation please do not hesitate to get in touch. I aim to respond within 24 hours and I can also offer onward signposting if you decide I am not the right fit for you.
