About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m David! I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). By nature, I am very easy-going and I strive to build strong, trusting connections with everyone I work with.
I have over 10 years of experience working as a mental health professional. Before transitioning to private practice, I spent many years working as a Supported Housing and Substance Misuse worker. In these roles, I provided practical, emotional, and psychological support to socially excluded individuals, young adults with challenging behaviours, and people with forensic mental health histories. This hands-on background has given me a deep understanding of complex life challenges and equipped me to support people from all walks of life.
Practice description
I use an integrative approach to therapy, blending models like Person-centred and Psychodynamic therapy to find the style that best suits your individual needs. My philosophy is simple: you are always at the centre of your own healing journey. I truly believe that you already possess the inner resources needed to grow and find solutions. My role is simply to provide a warm, safe, and non-judgemental space where you feel heard and understood.
Together, we can explore how past experiences or unconscious patterns might be influencing your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours today. By gaining insight into these deeper layers, you can begin to make more conscious choices and break free from the patterns that no longer serve you.
My first session
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, but in our sessions, you will find an empathetic environment where your personal experiences are always valued. I focus on building a strong therapeutic relationship with you, empowering you to discover your own strengths and insights.
Whether you are looking for support with anxiety, depression, neurodiversity, substance dependency, trauma, or relationship issues, I am here to help. If you're ready to start your journey toward healing and self-discovery, please don't hesitate to reach out.
