About me and my therapy practice
I offer an calm, open and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard and understood. As the trust in our relationship grows, I’ll support you to confront difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences. And I’ll be reliable and consistent as we work towards your goals.
As a queer person I know therapy is most effective when you feel safe to bring your whole self to a session. I care deeply about LGBTQIA+ justice and equity. I welcome clients from across the gender, sexuality and relationship spectrum. Whether you want to work on issues related being LGBTQIA+ or something else entirely.
Practice description
I’m an integrative therapist, which means I draw on different ways of thinking about therapy rather than following one approach.
Our sessions are led by what matters to you. We might explore what’s happening in your life right now, experiences from your past, patterns in your relationships, or what’s happening between us in the room.
You set the pace. I won’t rush you or assume I know what you’re going through, and I try to bring patience and a calm, steady presence to our sessions, so you have space to hear yourself.
I’m a calm, steady presence, and I’m relaxed and down to earth in the room. I wear comfortable clothes, I often take my shoes off, and I sometimes sit cross-legged in my chair. If you want to sit on the floor, move around, stim or fidget, that’s fine with me.
I want you to do whatever helps you feel comfortable and able to make the most of your therapy.
We live in a world where intersectional oppressions exist, on the grounds of race, gender, class, sexuality, religion and many more. These can have a serious impact on our mental health. The therapy relationship is no exception, and I am open to exploration of any aspects of identity and difference at any point during our work together.
My first session
If you’ve decided you want to see me for therapy, please email me to book an assessment session.
In the assessment session we’ll explore what’s brought you to therapy, and what you might want to get from it. The relationship between therapist and client is important. So, it’s also an opportunity for us both to get a feel for whether we’d be a good fit. I charge £60 for an assessment session.
I’m also offer a free 15 minute phone call if you have any questions before booking an assessment, or want to get a feel for how it might be to talk to me. Please email me if you’d like to arrange a call.
