About me and my therapy practice

Starting therapy can be daunting! I am a kind and compassionate therapist and provide a space where you can feel safe and accepted and can speak freely, and reflect, without fear of judgement.

I have experience of providing counselling in the NHS and voluntary sector. I have supported people with relationship difficulties, overwhelm, anxiety, stress, loss and bereavement, low self confidence, self-criticism, shame and low mood. I have also provided counselling in an NHS pregnancy loss service and have experience of supporting women (and men) affected by pregnancy loss, recurrent miscarriage and fertility difficulties.

People seek therapy for a multitude of reasons, it could be due to a specific problem or life event. Or you may be feeling overwhelmed, stressed and anxious. It may be that you are struggling in your relationships with others or are struggling to form relationships. You may lack confidence, be overly self-critical and never feel good enough. You could feel stuck and be aware that you are repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour. Or you may be feeling generally dissatisfied with life and wish to make sense of these feelings.

Practice description

I am a relational integrative therapist, which means I tailor my approach to each individual and will use different therapeutic approaches depending on your needs and wants. My focus is on supporting you through our therapeutic relationship, to enable you to deepen your understanding and acceptance of your self.

I hold a Post Graduate Diploma in Integrative Psychotherapy and my training was trauma informed. I am also a qualified Social Worker and in that role, I have supported adults experiencing difficulties for over 25 years.

I am a passionate advocate of therapy’s potential to enable us to develop more compassionate ways of relating to ourselves and others, leading to a more emotionally fulfilled life.

Practice description

During my training I provided counselling within an NHS early pregnancy loss counselling service. I supported women (and men) who have experienced individual pregnancy loss, recurrent miscarriage and fertility difficulties. I am also a volunteer counsellor at a women’s centre where I support individuals who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, loss and / or have had negative experiences in relationships.

My background is in social work, where I gained over 20 years of experience of working with adults affected by difficult childhood experiences, family relationship breakdown and the loss of attachment figures growing up. I worked as a Social Worker in an Adoption Support service for many years, providing birth records counselling to adopted adults. I was also an intermediary, which involved providing emotional support to adopted adults, birthmothers and other birth family members.

I am a passionate advocate of therapy’s potential to support all of us to deepen our self-understanding and develop more compassionate ways of relating to ourselves and others, leading to a more emotionally fulfilled life.
