About me and my therapy practice

You may be functioning on the outside but feeling stuck, anxious, self-critical, disconnected, or unsure why the same patterns keep repeating. Perhaps you find it hard to say what you need, feel overwhelmed by your emotions, or notice familiar difficulties showing up in your relationships, work, or sense of yourself.

I’m David, a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist based in Beckenham. I offer therapy in person and online for adults who want space to slow down, reflect, and understand themselves more clearly.

My approach is calm, thoughtful and collaborative. I draw on Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Person-Centred principles, which means we can look at both what is happening in your life now and the deeper patterns that may be shaping how you think, feel and relate to others.

Many of the people I work with come to therapy not only because they want relief from difficult feelings, but because they want to understand themselves more deeply. We might explore anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, stress, anger, people-pleasing, relationship difficulties, or the impact of earlier experiences.

I tend to work well with clients who are curious about their inner world and open to exploring patterns over time. There is no pressure to “do therapy right”, I believe therapy is a shared process, and we can work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

My role is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you as we make sense of your experience and consider what meaningful change might look like.

I regularly write articles exploring themes like anxiety, depression, and emotional resilience. If you're curious to learn more about how I work, you're welcome to read some of them in the Articles section of my website.

Practice description

Therapy with me is a space to talk openly, but also to begin noticing and understanding the patterns that may be affecting your life.

Some clients come to therapy knowing exactly what they want to work on, others arrive with a more general sense that something does not feel right. You might feel anxious, low, stressed, emotionally stuck, or aware that you keep reacting in ways you do not fully understand.

In our work together, we can explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships and past experiences, while also paying attention to what is happening in the present. I often use ideas from Transactional Analysis to help clients understand different parts of themselves and recurring relationship patterns. I may also draw on CBT where it feels useful, particularly when looking at thoughts, beliefs, emotional responses and practical coping strategies.

This does not mean therapy has to be rigid or full of exercises. Some sessions may feel reflective and exploratory; others may be more practical. We can work together to find an approach that fits you.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem difficulties, relationship issues, anger, people-pleasing, life transitions and questions around identity or direction.

If you would like to get a feel for whether we might work well together, you are welcome to get in touch to arrange a free 15-minute phone consultation.

My first session

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you are not sure what to expect.

The first step is usually a free 15-minute phone consultation. This gives us a chance to briefly talk about what is bringing you to therapy, what you may be looking for, and whether I seem like the right therapist for you. You are also welcome to ask any questions about how I work.

If you decide to continue, we can arrange an initial session. There is no obligation to commit beyond that point. Some people come with a clear focus, while others need time to work out what they want from therapy. Either is completely okay.

Ongoing sessions are £70 and usually take place weekly, either in person in Beckenham or online via Zoom.

About me and my therapy practice

Feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward? You may be experiencing low mood, stress, self-doubt, or difficulties in your relationships. Perhaps you’ve noticed certain patterns repeating, or you find it hard to say what you need.

Hi, I'm David, I'm a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist offering a confidential, supportive space where we can explore what’s happening for you at a pace that feels manageable.

Therapy can provide an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and begin to understand the emotional responses and relational patterns that may feel confusing or overwhelming.

Many of the people I work with come to therapy not only for relief from difficult feelings, but also with a desire to understand themselves more deeply. My approach is thoughtful and collaborative, drawing on Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Person-Centred principles. Together, we can explore how past experiences, beliefs, and relationship dynamics may be shaping your current difficulties.

I tend to work particularly well with clients who are curious about their inner world and open to exploring patterns over time. There is no pressure to “do therapy right”, it is a shared process that develops gradually, with space for reflection and growth.

My role is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you as we make sense of your experience and consider what meaningful change might look like for you.

I regularly write articles exploring themes like anxiety, depression, and emotional resilience. If you're curious to learn more about how I work, you're welcome to read some of them in the Articles section of my website.

Practice description

I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. My approach is collaborative and grounded in curiosity, helping you gain a deeper understanding of your experiences and the patterns that may be shaping them.

Together, we can begin to recognise unhelpful beliefs, relational dynamics and emotional responses that feel confusing or overwhelming. Rather than focusing only on immediate solutions, I aim to support you in developing greater self-awareness and emotional understanding, creating the foundations for meaningful and lasting change.

Everything we discuss is confidential, allowing you to speak openly and honestly. My role is not to direct or advise, but to work alongside you as we make sense of your experience and consider what feels right for you.

As a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist, I am committed to ongoing professional development and regularly undertake CPD to ensure my practice remains thoughtful, ethical and up to date.

If you would like to explore whether we might work well together, you’re welcome to get in touch to arrange an initial phone consultation.
