About me and my therapy practice
I am a child and young person counsellor, working with children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 25. I offer a safe, confidential and supportive space where young people can explore their thoughts, feelings and experiences at their own pace.
I work in a child centred and creative way, understanding that many children and young people find it difficult to express themselves through words alone. I use creative counselling approaches to help young people communicate emotions, manage anxiety and build emotional understanding.
Practice description
I’m a registered member of the BACP (MBACP) and hold a Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, giving me specialist training in working with the unique emotional needs of children and young people.
I have a strong interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs, including neurodiversity and SEND. This is informed by both professional experience and my personal life, as I am a parent to a child with a disability. I work with empathy, patience and flexibility, helping young people feel heard, understood and supported.
My first session
The first step is a free 30 minute phone call with you as the parent or carer. Your child doesn’t need to be present at this stage.
This is a chance to talk through your concerns, what you’ve noticed, and what’s been going on for your child recently. It also gives you space to ask any questions and decide whether you feel comfortable taking things further.
The call is booked in advance at a mutually convenient time, so there’s space to talk without rushing.
If you decide to continue, I’ll then arrange to meet with your child. We’d take things gently from there, starting by getting to know them and helping them feel comfortable at their own pace.
