About me and my therapy practice
Many people come to therapy carrying a quiet sense of disconnection — from themselves, from others, or from a deeper sense of meaning. This can exist alongside outward success or a life that appears, on the surface, to be working. In a world of constant connectivity, it is not uncommon to feel inwardly estranged, misaligned, or uncertain of one’s identity, and to find oneself searching for a more authentic way of being.
I grew up in mainland China and have lived in the UK for over 20 years. Moving away from home at a young age, I began a personal journey of self-discovery — one that continues to shape how I understand both myself and others. Beneath this, I often recognise a shared human longing: a longing for autonomy — to be oneself — and a longing to belong, to feel connected and held in relationship.
Many of us want to be met as we are, without being reduced or misunderstood. I see therapy as a space of enquiry where this kind of meeting can begin, and where, over time, new ways of understanding and responding to our experiences may emerge.
By gently exploring what may be contributing to your difficulties, we can begin to understand how certain ways of coping have taken shape, and whether they still serve you. This can open the possibility of relating differently — to yourself and to others — with more awareness, choice, and a sense of alignment with what feels true.
I work with both individuals and couples. In couples work, the focus often turns towards the space between you — how you relate, where you meet, and where you may feel stuck, distant, or caught in repeating patterns. Together, we can begin to explore what is happening within the relationship, and what each of you brings into that shared space.
I am a qualified counsellor trained at the Institute of Psychosynthesis in London. Psychosynthesis holds an underlying aspiration of “serving humanity in transition,” recognising both the challenges and the potential for growth within each person’s experience.
Practice description
Psychosynthesis is a 'Psychology of Hope' that works holistically, nurturing synergy between all parts of your personality, enhance introspection, build ego strength and foster resilience. Instead of a pathologizing psychology, psychosynthesis is kind and empathic before it is probing and analytical. Keenly aware that symptom is a message to be understood rather than an obstacle to be removed, I hold an attitude of respect and a committed interest for the being of the client, the unique and mysterious nature of the other. I employ the appropriate way of working depending on what brings you to therapy, your struggles, your hopes and your aspirations.
Utilizing a wide range of creative ways of exploration, I aspire to be able to work at depth and honour all aspects of your human experience. I provide an empathic and non-judgmental space, inviting you to gradually learn to be with yourself. As we unpack gently the mysterious layers of your inner world, we learn to sit with difficult emotions. We create a space for you to ponder, to grapple, to muse, to gain new insights, to find meaning and to learn how to support yourself and not abandon yourself.
My first session
I offer an initial free 20–30 minute phone or video consultation. This is a space for you to share what you’re looking for, ask any initial questions, and for us to begin to get a sense of what it might feel like to work together.
If we decide to continue, we will agree a counselling contract that sets out confidentiality, boundaries, and the practical framework for our work.
In our first session, we will gently explore what has brought you to therapy at this time. Reaching out for support can hold both courage and vulnerability, and I approach this with care and respect.
My core training is psychosynthesis, integrative in nature, and my approach is relational. I aim to offer a collaborative space where your experience can be met with depth, sensitivity, and curiosity — a space where you can feel heard, supported, and able to explore what matters most to you.
