About me and my therapy practice

I work mainly with young people and young adults who may be struggling with anxiety, school refusal, low self-esteem, exam stress, loneliness, friendships, or simply feeling overwhelmed by what is going on in their lives.

I have over a decade of clinical experience working across schools, addiction services and specialist adolescent therapy settings. I am an Advanced Practitioner and Accredited Member of Addiction Professionals, with an MSc in Addiction Psychology and Counselling and a background in youth work.

When you come to a session, you can expect a gentle, thoughtful therapist who will meet you with warmth, curiosity and without judgement. I take time to understand what is happening for you rather than assuming there is one particular way therapy should work. We can take things at a pace that feels manageable.

Practice description

Sometimes anxiety becomes so overwhelming that going to school or even leaving the house can feel almost impossible. I have specialist experience supporting young people experiencing anxiety and school refusal, including young people who have struggled to leave the house or engage with CAMHS and other services.

I also have specialist experience in addiction. I work with young people and young adults around drug and alcohol use, gaming, gambling and other behaviours that may have started to feel difficult to control. I also support young people who are affected by someone else's addiction, including parents who are worried about the impact on their child.

My way of working is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on what you need. I may offer a little more structure at first, particularly if you are unsure where to begin, but as we get to know each other the space becomes more yours.

I work with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ young people and aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental and affirming space where you can talk openly about what is happening, including identity, relationships, family, school and the things that may feel difficult to explain to other people.

My first session

Once you get in touch, I will respond within 24 hours. We can then arrange a first appointment and talk about what has been happening and what you would like support with.

Weekly sessions are usually most helpful, and we generally keep to the same time and place each week. If you are arranging therapy for a young person, a parent or carer is welcome to join the first session if this would be helpful.
