About me and my therapy practice
You don't have to know exactly what's wrong to ask for help. Sometimes it's just a sense that things aren't right: feeling anxious, flat, irritable or disconnected, and not knowing why. We can explore that together, gently and at your pace.
I'm Carey, and my counselling room in Leigh-on-Sea is just one stop from Benfleet on the c2c, or a short drive. I also offer sessions online and by telephone. Your first session is on me.
I'm a qualified, fully insured counsellor and a registered member of the BACP. I offer a safe, warm and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be properly listened to. I've had my own difficulties in the past, so I know how much courage it takes to make that first contact.
Because the right fit matters so much, your first 50-minute session is free, with no obligation to continue. If you'd rather talk first, I'm happy to arrange a free phone consultation. Just get in touch and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Practice description
It isn't always easy to talk to the people closest to us. Sometimes we hold back so we don't worry them, and sometimes their well-meant advice doesn't quite land. Counselling is different. It's time that's just for you, with someone outside your everyday life who will listen without judging and help you make sense of your thoughts, feelings and patterns.
How I work
I work in a person-centred way, which means you lead and we go at your pace. When it helps, I also bring in solution-focused ideas, so we can think together about practical next steps. It can feel a little strange at first, but being really listened to and understood can make a real difference.
What I can help with
Anxiety and panic, low mood and depression, stress and burnout, low self-esteem and self-criticism, relationship difficulties, and feeling lost, stuck or disconnected. You don't need a diagnosis, or to be able to explain exactly how you feel.
Sessions and fees
- In person at my counselling room in Leigh-on-Sea, online by video, or by telephone
- 50 minutes, usually once a week at a regular time
- First session on me, then £55 per session
- No GP referral needed. You can contact me directly.
I work with adults aged 18 and over.
My first session
Not sure what to expect? Here's how it works.
Getting in touch
Contact me by phone, WhatsApp, email or the form on my website. You can book your first session straight away, or have a free phone consultation first if you'd like to talk before deciding. Before we meet, I'll ask you to fill in a short registration form and read my terms, which explain how we'll work together.
In the session
We'll meet for 50 minutes, in person in Leigh-on-Sea, online or by phone. We'll talk about what's brought you to counselling and what you'd like to be different. I'll explain how I work, including confidentiality and its limits, and you can ask me anything. You don't need to prepare or know exactly what to say. Feeling nervous beforehand is completely normal.
Afterwards
There's no pressure to decide on the spot. If you'd like to continue, we'll agree a regular time each week, at £55 per session. If you decide it's not for you, that's absolutely fine, and there's nothing to pay.
