About me and my therapy practice

I’m an Integrative Therapist offering support for a wide range of emotional challenges, including anxiety, grief, low mood, trauma, and family-related difficulties. My approach is warm, respectful and adaptable—providing a secure, confidential environment where you can talk freely and feel genuinely listened to. I draw on a blend of therapeutic models and gently shape our work around what feels most helpful for you. I work with both adults and children from the age of 6 upwards.

I am an Integrative trained Therapist, with experience in anxiety, bereavement and loss, depression, trauma as well as wider family issues. Providing a calm, safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, valued and supported, using a variety of therapeutic approaches, enabling us together, to ensure therapy fits your individual needs.

I work with adults and young people aged 6 and above

Life can be complicated, and at times feel overwhelming. Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and make sense of what you’re feeling—whether that’s anxiety, low mood, or the lasting effects of early life experiences. Together, we can explore what’s going on, helping you to feel more hopeful, better understood, and more in control of your direction.

My approach centres on building a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, accepted, and truly heard. It’s in this connection that deeper understanding can take place—of your emotions, behaviours, and the impact of your past. Therapy can offer insight into how you relate to others and yourself, while also supporting you to make meaningful changes.

I offer creative and expressive ways of working, such as art, play, and other imaginative tools. These approaches can be especially helpful for clients of all ages who find it hard to express themselves with words alone.

BACP and NCPS registered.

Practice description

The therapeutic relationship is at the centre of our work together, so finding the right counsellor for you is key to fostering change. Please feel free to contact me for an initial, free 15 minute chat to explore your needs and how we may be able to work together to achieve them. Should you then wish to work with me and feel ready to begin, we can arrange a convenient time for our first session. Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly and can be face to face in my counselling room or remotely via Zoom or telephone, whichever feels more comfortable for you.

When working with children and young people, I draw on my experience across Primary, Secondary, and Further Education settings, including SEND provision. I aim to create a steady, nurturing environment where young clients can explore emotions and difficulties in a way that feels manageable and appropriate to their stage of development. I support young people facing challenges such as anxiety, self-harm, academic stress, friendship difficulties, and family changes, as well as offering guidance to the adults around them.

My first session

The first counselling session is a gentle, welcoming space where we’ll explore what brings you to therapy and what you’re hoping to get from it.

You don’t need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say, we’ll go at your pace. This session is an opportunity for you to begin telling your story in a space that feels safe, accepting, and respectful.

I’ll invite you to share any current challenges, concerns, or goals, and we’ll discuss how I work and whether you feel I’m the right fit for you. You can ask questions, raise any worries you have about starting therapy, and let me know what kind of support you’re looking for.

If the counselling is for a child or young person, I’ll often begin with a short conversation with the parent or guardian to gather initial information and outline how I work. From there, I aim to build trust gradually with the child or teen, creating a space where they feel comfortable enough to express themselves freely.

Whether you're new to counselling or returning after time away, the first session is about helping you feel heard, respected, and at ease. I don’t ask for long forms or assessments unless they feel useful—we’ll begin by simply talking.

If you’re interested in exploring how therapy could help you or someone in your care, please feel free to get in touch to arrange an initial session or have an informal chat.

Availability

I currently have some availability for new supervisees and welcome enquiries from both qualified and trainee counsellors. I offer individual and group supervision, both face to face and online, with sessions generally available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss your supervision needs and arrange an initial conversation to explore how we might work together.

About me and my therapy practice

I see supervision as a collaborative relationship built on trust, openness and mutual respect. My aim is to create a safe and supportive space where supervisees feel comfortable bringing all aspects of their work, including uncertainties, challenges and successes, knowing that these can be explored with curiosity and without judgement.

I draw particularly on Hawkins and Shohet’s Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision, alongside Inskipp and Proctor’s formative, restorative and normative functions. These approaches help me balance professional development, ethical responsibility and emotional support, while remaining responsive to each supervisee’s individual needs.

An attachment-informed perspective also influences my work, encouraging curiosity about relational patterns, both within the therapeutic relationship and the supervisory relationship.

I believe effective supervision should offer both support and appropriate challenge, encouraging reflection, professional growth and greater confidence in clinical decision-making.

Practice description

I am a qualified integrative counsellor and clinical supervisor, holding a CPCAB Level 6 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision. I work in private practice, offering individual and group supervision to qualified counsellors and those undertaking counselling training.

My clinical experience includes working with adults, children and young people, and couples, supporting clients experiencing anxiety, bereavement, trauma and relationship difficulties. I hold a CPCAB Level 5 Diploma in Counselling Children and Young People, which informs my understanding of the particular considerations involved in working with younger clients.

Alongside supervising counsellors and trainees, I provide professional supervision to school leaders. My previous career in education, spanning over 30 years, brings an additional understanding of the challenges faced by professionals working in educational settings, particularly around safeguarding, professional responsibility and emotional wellbeing.

I am currently undertaking postgraduate-level training in attachment-focused psychotherapeutic practice, further developing my understanding of trauma, relationships and attachment, particularly in relation to individual and couples therapy.

I welcome enquiries from counsellors at different stages of their professional development and aim to offer supervision that is responsive to their experience, clinical setting and individual learning needs.

My first session

I offer a brief introductory telephone conversation before arranging our first supervision session. This provides an opportunity to discuss your supervision requirements, ask any initial questions and consider how we might work together.

Our first supervision session focuses on establishing a collaborative and trusting professional relationship. We will explore your experience, current practice, professional development needs and what you hope to gain from supervision. We can also consider areas where you would particularly welcome support or challenge.

We will review our supervision agreement, including confidentiality, ethical responsibilities, safeguarding and practical arrangements, ensuring we have a clear and shared understanding of our work together.

My aim is to establish a supervisory relationship in which you feel supported, respected and able to engage openly in reflective practice, with space for gentle challenge that encourages curiosity, deeper understanding and professional growth.
