Availability

I currently have availability for new clients.

I offer Online Counselling for any adult in the UK.

I work flexibly across the week, including some evening and weekend appointments. Sessions are 50 minutes and cost £60.

I know that making the first contact with a counsellor can sometimes feel like quite a big step, so you're very welcome to get in touch with any questions before deciding whether you'd like to book.

You can contact me by email, phone or through my website, and I'll usually respond as soon as I'm able between sessions. I see SMS/Whatsapp etc very easily in between sessions.

About me and my therapy practice

I believe counselling works best when you can be yourself, without feeling judged, analysed or expected to have the right words.

My style is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. I won't sit silently behind a professional mask, but neither will I tell you how to live your life. We'll work together to understand what's happening for you, where some of those patterns may have come from, and what might help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.

I have worked with many people across the UK online.

I work integratively, drawing particularly on person-centred and psychodynamic ideas. In practice, that means there isn't a fixed formula. Some sessions may involve exploring your past and how it continues to influence the present; others may focus much more on what is happening in your life right now.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, life changes and times when things simply don't feel quite right. I also work extensively with neurodivergent adults, including people with ADHD or autistic traits, whether formally diagnosed, newly discovering this part of themselves, or simply trying to understand why they've often felt different.

Themes such as masking, overwhelm, emotional intensity, rejection sensitivity, difficulty getting started and years of feeling that you should somehow be coping better can all have a place in our work.

You don't need a diagnosis, a crisis or even a clear explanation of what's wrong to come to counselling. Sometimes knowing that something needs to change is enough of a starting point.

Above all, I want therapy to be somewhere you can speak openly, understand yourself with a little more compassion, and gradually find a way of living that feels more authentically yours.

Practice description

This listing is purely for my Online work across the UK.

There's no particular way you need to prepare for counselling. In our first session we'll have time to talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you would like to get from it, and whether working together feels right for you.

I don't work from a rigid programme or expect every session to look the same. Sometimes you may arrive with something very specific you want to explore; at other times we might notice patterns emerging through the conversation. We can look at the past when it's relevant while also paying attention to what's happening in your life now.

Sessions are relaxed and conversational. You don't need to arrive with a perfectly organised account of how you're feeling, and silence, humour, uncertainty and not quite knowing where to begin are all welcome.

I have worked with many different individuals and am very comfortable working with neurodiversity, including people with ADHD or autistic traits, whether formally diagnosed or simply beginning to recognise these things in themselves. I understand that things such as executive functioning, emotional regulation, masking and feeling different from others can all affect how someone experiences both everyday life and therapy.

I also work with a wide range of other issues, including anxiety, low mood, relationships, grief and loss, difficult life changes, self-esteem and times when you may simply feel stuck or unsure of what needs to change. You don't need to fit neatly into a particular category or arrive with a diagnosis — we can start with whatever is happening for you.

My first session

Our first session is a normal 50-minute counselling session at the usual fee of £60. I don't charge a different introductory rate or require you to complete a formal assessment beforehand.

If you're feeling unsure about starting counselling, you're also very welcome to contact me first. I'm happy to have a brief phone conversation before you book if talking things through would help you decide whether I might be the right counsellor for you.

There's no need to prepare for your first session or work out exactly what you want to say. We'll usually begin by talking about what has brought you to counselling and what you might like to get from it, but there's no pressure to tell me your entire life story in the first 50 minutes.

It's also an opportunity for you to get a sense of me and how I work. The relationship between counsellor and client matters, and I think it's important that you feel reasonably comfortable with the person you're talking to.

Towards the end, we can talk about whether you'd like to continue and what might work for you. There's no expectation that you need to commit to a particular number of sessions.

Availability

I currently have availability for new Walk & Talk Therapy clients in Pittville Park, Cheltenham.

Walk & Talk Therapy is simply counselling outdoors while we walk together, rather than sitting opposite one another in a therapy room. Some people find that being outside and moving makes conversation feel a little easier and less intense, particularly if traditional face-to-face counselling feels quite formal.

We normally meet around Central Cross Drive in Pittville Park and walk at a comfortable pace for approximately 50 minutes. You don't need to be particularly fit, this isn't exercise disguised as therapy, and we can slow down, stop or sit somewhere whenever we need to.

Sessions cost £60 (although in some circumstances I can offer concessions).

I also offer counselling from my private therapy room in Central Cheltenham and online across the UK, so Walk & Talk doesn't have to be the only way we work together.

I know making first contact with a counsellor can sometimes feel like quite a big step, so you're very welcome to get in touch with any questions before deciding whether you'd like to book.

About me and my therapy practice

I believe counselling works best when you can be yourself, without feeling judged, analysed or expected to have the right words.

That is one of the reasons I enjoy offering Walk & Talk Therapy. For some people, walking side-by-side outdoors feels more natural than sitting opposite someone in a therapy room. There can be less pressure around eye contact, and having the park around us can give conversation a little more space.

My style is warm, down-to-earth and collaborative. I won't sit silently behind a professional mask, but neither will I tell you how to live your life.

Practice description

My Walk & Talk practice is based around Pittville Park in Cheltenham. We normally meet near Central Cross Drive and then walk together through the park for our 50-minute session.

Walk & Talk Therapy is counselling rather than a fitness activity. We walk at whatever pace feels comfortable, and there's absolutely no requirement to keep moving for the whole session. We can stop, sit down or change our route as needed.

Some people find walking side-by-side makes it easier to talk. You don't have the same expectation of continuous eye contact that can come with sitting opposite a counsellor, and movement can sometimes help when you're feeling restless, overwhelmed or finding it difficult to work out where to begin.

The therapy itself isn't fundamentally different from the work I do in my counselling room. I work integratively, drawing particularly on person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. We might explore what's happening in your life now, experiences from your past, patterns you've begun to notice, or simply whatever feels most important that day.

Working outdoors does mean there are some practical differences. Pittville Park is a public space, so while we'll choose quieter routes where possible, I can't guarantee the same level of privacy that I can in my therapy room. We can talk about this before we begin and agree what we'd like to do if we encounter somebody either of us knows.

Weather doesn't necessarily mean cancelling — we're in Britain, after all — although if conditions make walking impractical we can arrange an online session or discuss another option.

If at any point you decide you'd prefer to work indoors, I also offer sessions from my private therapy room in Central Cheltenham, as well as online counselling.

My first session

Our Walk and Talk session is a normal 50-minute counselling session at the usual fee of £60. We'll meet at our agreed meeting point in Pittville Park.
