About me and my therapy practice

I work with adults aged 18 and over, covering a broad range of issues including life transitions such as menopause and empty nesting, divorce and retirement, I also work with OCD, anxiety, depression, and self-esteem. Relationship difficulties often sit here too, sometimes not in an obvious way. You might find yourself staying in a relationship, or a pattern within one, out of fear rather than genuine choice. Fear is something so many people carry but rarely talk about openly.

Perhaps you are finding it hard to accept life as it is, experiencing regret or mourning a life you wish you had, or struggling with how you feel about yourself.

My specialism is addiction. It has been through a hard road of acceptance, knowledge, and change that my passion for working with people has stemmed from, leading me to find my desire to help others navigate their own path forward. This is grounded in ten years of personal recovery experience, alongside my clinical training, and my ongoing work within a charity focused on addiction support.

Compulsive behaviours don't need a label to be worth exploring. You don't have to identify as having an addiction to know that something feels like it's starting to slip out of your control, whether that's your own relationship with something like pornography or social media, or watching someone close to you, a partner, family member, or friend, struggle with a compulsive behaviour and feeling the impact of that on you. If something is bringing more negative consequences into your life than positive ones, that's often exactly the kind of question worth bringing into therapy.

With awareness comes knowledge. With knowledge comes acceptance. And with acceptance, we can work towards change. Sessions are available online, UK-wide, and if any of this resonates, I'd be glad to hear from you.

Practice description

My first session with a new client is focused on assessment. This is a crucial part of the start of therapy: it's where we look at all aspects of your life, not just the presenting issue, so we can properly identify what you need and what you're working towards together.

I am an Integrative therapist, drawing on various techniques from Motivational interviewing, CBT and ACT but most importantly, I'm here to listen to you, without judgement.

Before we begin, I offer a free 15-minute consultation. I encourage you to come with questions; ask me anything you need to in order to feel comfortable moving forward. It can also help to sit with a few questions of your own beforehand. How would I like things to move? How would I like to feel at the end of this? What am I working towards? What's brought me here?

There's absolutely no commitment to continue into therapy after this call.

You can have all the qualifications in the world, but what therapy really comes down to is connection. If you don't feel that connection with a therapist, the work is much harder, so please take your time deciding if I'm the right person for you to work with. My style is warm and direct: no toxic positivity, just honest, grounded support while you find your way through.

My first session

Before our first session, I'll ask you to complete a short form. This helps me carry out a full assessment, including gathering background information and setting goals together. In my experience, having a clear picture of your life allows me to support you in the way that's right for you.
