Availability
I am available for online sessions on Monday and Tuesday, with a limited number of slots on Wednesday evening. I'm currently taking on new clients from early August 2026, so responses to enquiries before then may be a little slower than usual.
I'm also in the process of finding space for in-person sessions in Glasgow. If you'd like to work with me in person, please get in touch and I can update you on availability.
About me and my therapy practice
I'm Sorcha, a person-centred counsellor based in Scotland. For me, what makes therapy meaningful is the relationship between counsellor and client. In my practice, I work to build a space where you can feel genuinely met and free to explore what feels important to you.
Who we are and how we feel can't be separated from the world we live in - our relationships, our communities, and the systems and experiences that have shaped us. I try to hold all of that in my work with you, offering a space where you don't have to leave any part of your experience at the door.
I have spent several years working in the voluntary sector, providing support work and casework across a range of charitable organisations. Much of that work was with people navigating challenging circumstances, such as mental health crisis, long term health conditions and homelessness, often without adequate support from the systems around them. It was this work that led me to train as a person-centred counsellor. For the past few years, I have been offering counselling in voluntary agencies, including community counselling and domestic abuse services. My practice aims to be informed by anti-oppressive principles, meaning I pay attention to how power, identity, and inequality show up in the room.
Alongside my counselling practice, I also offer yoga, which I believe can be a powerful complement to therapeutic work.
Practice description
In person-centred counselling, you are the expert on your own life. Rather than offering advice or solutions, my role is to create the conditions in which you feel safe enough to explore who you are and what feels important. I believe that people have the capacity to find their own way when given the space to do so, and that therapy works best when that space is built on trust, honesty and genuine human connection.
I use a variety of approaches in my work including creative methods, mindfulness practices, breath work, self-compassion and body awareness.
You can use your sessions to talk about areas such as anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, relationship concerns, health conditions, loss, questions of identity and your relationship with yourself. But ultimately, I will work with you as a whole person rather than focusing on individual problems.
I work exclusively with adults.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation, giving us both the opportunity to see if we feel like the right fit to work together. If we decide to go ahead, our first session will involve looking at a contract and discussing the boundaries of our relationship, so that you feel clear and safe about the process from the outset.
Sessions are 50 minutes and are held online. We will agree together on a day, time and frequency that works for you - most people find weekly sessions useful to begin with, though fortnightly can also work well depending on your needs and preferences.
