About me and my therapy practice
Working at a much deeper level, focussing on unconscious drivers and patterns, I offer more than coping strategies and tools.
I am a psychodynamic counsellor and psychotherapist working with adults and young people aged 18+, offering both in person and online therapy.
People often come to therapy because something no longer feels manageable in the way it once did. You may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, overwhelm, burnout, grief, self esteem issues, or a sense of feeling stuck in repeating patterns. Sometimes there is a clear reason for seeking therapy, and sometimes there is simply a growing sense that something does not feel right.
Psychodynamic therapy is about thinking more deeply about your experiences and understanding how past relationships and experiences may still be affecting the present. Often the difficulties we experience are not random, but connected to patterns, expectations, coping strategies, or ways of relating that developed over time for understandable reasons.
I aim to offer a thoughtful, containing, and reflective space where you can speak openly without feeling judged or rushed. Therapy can help bring greater awareness to patterns that may previously have felt automatic or difficult to understand, creating the possibility for meaningful and lasting change over time.
I work in a collaborative and relational way, recognising that each person’s experiences and needs are unique rather than approaching therapy as a one size fits all process.
Practice description
I offer weekly 50 minute sessions in person and online in Ipswich on the edge of Christchurch Park.
My therapy room has been designed to feel comfortable, calm, and welcoming rather than overly clinical. Many people can feel anxious about starting therapy, particularly if previous experiences of support have felt rushed, structured, or impersonal. I aim to provide a space that feels more relaxed and containing, helping people to feel able to settle, reflect, and speak openly at their own pace.
I offer open ended therapy, meaning there is no fixed number of sessions. Some people come for shorter term support, whilst others choose to work longer term and more deeply. We would regularly think together about what feels helpful for you, without pressure or expectation around how long therapy should last.
I recognise that many people have experienced support within services where time can feel limited or focused mainly on symptom management. Psychodynamic therapy offers space to think more deeply about emotional experiences, relationships, recurring patterns, and the parts of ourselves that may not always feel fully understood.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute introductory call where we can briefly think together about what has brought you to therapy, what you may be looking for, and whether working together feels like the right fit.
If you decide you would like to continue, we would arrange an initial 50 minute appointment. This first session is a full paid session and gives us space to begin exploring your current difficulties, personal history, relationships, and what you hope to gain from therapy. I may ask more direct questions during this appointment to help build a fuller understanding of your experiences and difficulties.
The initial session also gives you an opportunity to get a feel for me, the therapy space, and how I work. Starting therapy can feel daunting and you do not need to know exactly what to say or have everything worked out beforehand.
Following the initial appointment, we would think together about whether ongoing therapy feels appropriate and helpful for you.
