About me and my therapy practice

I am an accredited psychodynamic counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I adhere to the BACP's Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. My core training was accredited by the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).

The work I offer is client-driven, meaning anything you bring to our sessions will be of interest to me and will fuel the work we do together. I offer a confidential and non-judgmental space where we can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences at your own pace. The process will be shaped through curiosity and collaboration, and my role is not to offer advice, but to work alongside you as we explore your experiences and uncover deeper insights.

The counselling process is rooted in listening, exploring, and making connections between your past and present. We may explore how your early life experiences, or unresolved feelings, may influence your current emotional challenges, such as anxiety, depression, or difficulties in relationships. My role is to facilitate a space in which you gain a deeper understanding of your behaviours and emotions, allowing for meaningful change or, when change is not possible, acceptance.

Practice description

Before establishing my private practice, I worked at Gloucestershire Counselling Service (GCS), where I supported adults facing a broad range of emotional challenges, including anxiety, depression, anger, loneliness, stress, and relationship difficulties. I remain actively involved in GCS’s training and assessment teams, ensuring my approach stays informed by the latest developments in the field.

The work we do together will be shaped by your unique needs and circumstances. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, caught in unhelpful patterns, or facing a significant life transition, I’m here to offer a supportive and safe environment for you to explore these challenges at a pace that feels right for you.

I offer open-ended counselling and fixed-term sessions. We will discuss and agree on the best approach for you at the beginning of our work together.

My first session

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, but it is an important step in seeking support. To begin, we will have a brief telephone conversation to arrange an introductory session. The initial session is an assessment where we will explore your reasons for seeking counselling, your goals for the work, and whether we are a good fit to work together.

If we decide to move forward, we will meet weekly for 50-minute sessions at a consistent time. If, during the assessment, we feel we are not a good match, I will be happy to refer you to another counsellor or service that may be better suited to your needs.

My fee is £60 per 50-minute session for ongoing sessions. The fee for the initial assessment session is also £60.
