About me and my therapy practice

I specialize in working with professionals and high-functioning adults struggling with panic attacks, anxiety disorders, and chronic stress. Many of my clients are capable, intelligent, and driven—but feel trapped by anxiety that no longer responds to logic or willpower.

Therapy focuses on understanding how anxiety operates in your body and mind, reducing fear of symptoms, and helping you regain a sense of safety and control. Our work is structured, practical, and paced to support lasting relief—not just short-term coping.

This is a good fit if anxiety is interfering with your sleep, work, health, or confidence, and you’re ready to work with a therapist who understands panic at a clinical and lived level.

I offer a private, psychologically rigorous space where reflective professionals can slow their thinking, hear themselves, and reorient — without being managed, analysed, or optimised.

I am Bukky Maybank, a UK-registered psychotherapist and former Magic Circle lawyer. Before training as a therapist, I worked in high-performance legal and commercial environments, advising senior leaders and boards where clarity, judgment, and discretion mattered. This experience informs my work with clients who carry high responsibility and internal pressure.

How I work

I work integratively, drawing primarily on existential and humanistic psychotherapy, informed by attachment theory, Jungian psychology, relational approaches, and mindfulness-informed neuroscience.

Sessions are collaborative and reflective. I provide psychological containment — a steady, non-judgemental space where patterns, relationships, and decisions can be explored. I am warm and attuned, and I also think actively with you, helping you see what is often difficult to see alone.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with founders, executives, and business owners who are outwardly successful but internally exhausted, anxious, or emotionally depleted. Many clients come to therapy when stress is affecting their sleep, decision-making, relationships, or sense of meaning — even though stepping back feels impossible.

Our work is confidential, focused, and results-oriented. We look at how chronic responsibility, control, and performance pressure impact the nervous system and emotional life, and develop sustainable ways to lead without operating in survival mode.

This work is well suited for driven individuals who value depth, discretion, and effectiveness — and who want to regain clarity, emotional regulation, and long-term capacity without losing their edge.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with adults who grew up with emotionally immature, critical, or narcissistic parents and are now recognising how those early dynamics still shape their anxiety, boundaries, and sense of self. Many clients come to therapy after realising that insight alone hasn’t been enough to change long-standing patterns.

Our work focuses on untangling internalised beliefs, strengthening emotional boundaries, and developing a more grounded sense of self-trust. Therapy is relational, steady, and paced to support deep, lasting change—not just symptom management.

This work is especially helpful if you’re ready to stop repeating old patterns and want healthier, more secure relationships—with others and yourself.

Most of my clients are not in crisis. They function exceptionally well, within systems that demand constant decision-making, emotional regulation, and availability. Over time, this sustained pressure can show up quietly as fatigue, irritability, overthinking, emotional flatness, disconnection, or a life that looks “successful” but feels subtly misaligned.

My work exists for that moment.

I offer a private, psychologically rigorous space where reflective professionals can slow their thinking, hear themselves, and reorient — without being managed, analysed, or optimised.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with founders, executives, and business owners who are highly capable yet privately struggling with chronic stress, anxiety, irritability, or burnout. Many of my clients worry that if they slow down, everything will fall apart—or that getting help means losing their edge.

You are capable, trusted, and often relied upon. Most people experience you as composed and effective — yet there are few spaces where you can truly slow down, think clearly, and speak honestly without performing.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with women in their 30s and 40s who are managing careers, relationships, families, and the constant mental load that comes with being the one who remembers, anticipates, and holds it all. Anxiety, guilt, resentment, and exhaustion are common—even when life looks “fine.”

In therapy, we slow things down enough to understand why rest feels impossible, why boundaries feel so hard, and why self-criticism has become the default. Our work is practical and emotionally grounded, helping you reduce anxiety, reclaim energy, and rebuild a sense of self that isn’t based on constant output.

This work is for women who are done white-knuckling life and are ready for sustainable change.

I offer a private, psychologically rigorous space where reflective professionals can slow their thinking, hear themselves, and reorient — without being managed, analysed, or optimised.

I am Bukky Maybank, a UK-registered psychotherapist and former Magic Circle lawyer. How I Work

My approach is integrative and depth-based. I draw on:

  • Existential Psychotherapy
  • Relational and Attachment-Informed Approaches
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Depth Psychology

Together, we explore patterns, meaning, internal conflicts, and the subtle ways modern digital life shapes attention, identity, and wellbeing.

This is not coaching, productivity work, or crisis intervention. It is a consistent, confidential space to reflect, regulate, and recalibrate. Sessions are intentionally limited, creating the stability needed for depth and insight.

About me and my therapy practice

I work with professionals navigating major life ruptures such as divorce, infidelity, sudden loss, career collapse, or health scares. These moments often bring intense anxiety, grief, shame, and a deep sense of disorientation, even for people who have always been resilient.

Therapy is a place to stabilise, make sense of what happened, and begin rebuilding from the inside out. We focus on grounding the nervous system, processing loss, and restoring trust in yourself and your future—without rushing or minimising the impact of what you’ve been through.

This is a good fit if you’re seeking thoughtful, contained support and want more than surface-level coping strategies during a pivotal chapter of your life.

I offer a private, psychologically rigorous space where reflective professionals can slow their thinking, hear themselves, and reorient — without being managed, analysed, or optimised.
