About me and my therapy practice
My practice is centered around acceptance of you as an individual. I consider myself to be kind, warm and genuine. I provide a safe therapeutic space to be heard and validated without judgment, pressure, or expectation. Together, we will work to explore and understand what’s happening beneath the surface, building self-awareness and self-compassion. Our sessions will be at your own pace and focused on what is important to you. You will be supported and encouraged to find your own way forward when faced with adversity. I will be there to assist you in building resilience and developing healthy coping strategies along the way.
Practice description
I offer face-to-face sessions from my private practice based at a central location in Kidderminster, as well as online sessions.
I use an integrative model which draws upon commonalities between cognitive-behavioural, humanistic and psychodynamic counselling approaches and allows me to tailor my work to meet the needs of each individual client. My approach is holistic, encompassing physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects.
In my years of experience as a counsellor, I have worked with a diverse range of clients, presenting with wide-ranging issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem and loss.
I have a First-Class undergraduate degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Counselling. I am also a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. In addition, I have a vast amount of experience supporting both adults and children in a variety of therapeutic roles within NHS primary care, charity and private health settings. Within my roles, I have undertaken a significant amount of relevant training, such as domestic abuse and autism awareness. I am also fully insured.
My first session
I believe that the relationship between you and your therapist is key, and it is important that you feel we are a good match. For this reason, I offer a free 20-minute online chat to give us the opportunity to meet each other and allow you to ask any questions you may have.
The counselling hour is 50 minutes. In the first session, we will discuss our working and therapeutic relationship agreements. We will then spend the rest of the session exploring what has brought you to counselling, your expectations and what you are hoping to achieve or work towards.
