About me and my therapy practice

It’s not always easy to reach out for support, especially when you’ve spent so long appearing to cope on the outside. If you’re starting to feel disconnected from yourself, feeling stuck in familiar patterns, or quietly questioning what’s next, I warmly invite you to get in touch. Finding the right therapist can make all the difference, and I’d be happy to share more about how I work and how I might support you.

I work with adults navigating life transitions, relationship difficulties, and the emotional impact of loss or change. Many of the people I work with are beginning to realise that something needs to shift, whether that’s feeling overwhelmed, repeating relationship patterns, struggling with boundaries, or feeling unsure of themselves. Often clients come to therapy feeling unheard, unseen, or carrying the effects of a critical or intrusive parent, unprocessed grief, or years of putting their own needs last.

Therapy with me offers a calm, compassionate space to explore your inner world, without pressure to have everything figured out. I bring warmth, curiosity, and respect to the process, supporting you to make sense of your experiences, understand how your past may be shaping your present, and reconnect with who you are beyond the expectations of others.

Practice description

My practice is a calm, private space where you can slow down, reflect, and begin to make sense of what’s going on beneath the surface. You don’t need to perform or apologise for your feelings here.

Many of the people I work with describe feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve them, repeating relationship dynamics, staying in relationships that aren’t working, constantly questioning themselves, or feeling like they should be happy but aren’t. We often explore how early experiences, family dynamics, and attachment patterns continue to shape how they relate to others and to themselves.

Whether you’re feeling lost, numb, overwhelmed, navigating grief, or unsure why you’re struggling, our work together will help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself, strengthen your sense of self, and create space for meaningful change.

Clients I work with

• Individuals exploring therapy for the first time

• People navigating relationship difficulties, boundaries, or uncertainty

• Clients experiencing major life transitions or identity shifts such as becoming a parent, marriage, separation, or loss

My first session

Our first session is a chance for us to get to know one another. We’ll explore what’s brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping for, whether that’s feeling stuck despite coping on the outside, struggling in relationships, or trying to make sense of a life transition. There’s no pressure to share everything right away,we’ll go at your pace.

It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and notice how you feel in the space. Therapy works best when there’s a sense of connection and trust, so this first meeting is about exploring whether we’re the right fit.

I often work with adults who appear to be managing on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves inside. Many are thoughtful and self-aware, yet find themselves repeating relationship patterns, struggling with boundaries, or quietly questioning their direction in life.

About me and my therapy practice

How I work

My approach is psychodynamic and relational. This means we explore what is happening in your life now while also considering how earlier experiences and relationships may be influencing how you feel about yourself and relate to others today.

I offer a warm, compassionate  space where you can speak openly without needing to have everything figured out. I will listen carefully, help you put difficult feelings into words and gently draw attention to patterns that may be hard to recognise on your own.

I will not tell you what to do or push you to talk about anything before you feel ready. Instead, we will work together at a pace that feels manageable, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and greater confidence in your own feelings and choices.

Practice description

I work from a comfortable, private annex at my home in Bushey, with its own entrance and toilet facilities. The therapy room is calm, cosy and separate from the main house, with free and easy parking outside.

When you arrive, simply knock at your appointment time and I will welcome you in. You may hear my dog bark—he is a very reliable doorbell, but he will not be in the therapy room unless we have discussed this beforehand.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at the same time each week. I also offer online and telephone counselling for clients who prefer to attend remotely.

In our first session, we will talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like support with. You are welcome to ask questions, and we can discuss whether continuing to work together feels right for you.

My first session

Your first session

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Many people arrive at their first session feeling nervous, unsure where to begin or worried they will not know what to say.

You do not need to have everything worked out or find the right words before you come. The first session gives us an opportunity to get to know one another and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling.

You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable. If you are unsure where to start, I can gently ask questions to help us begin. There is no pressure to tell me everything straight away, and we will work at a pace that feels manageable for you.

It is important that you feel comfortable, understood and able to be yourself with your therapist. The first session also gives you the opportunity to experience how I work, ask questions and decide whether I feel like the right person for you.

I can support you with:

Anxiety, overthinking and feeling overwhelmed

Relationship difficulties and repeating unhealthy patterns

Low self-esteem, self-doubt and lack of confidence

People-pleasing and difficulty setting boundaries

Family conflict or the effects of critical, controlling or intrusive parenting

Difficulties with trust, closeness and attachment

Feeling stuck, lost, unheard or emotionally alone

Understanding how past experiences may be affecting your relationships and emotional wellbeing today
