About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Jodie.
If you’ve found yourself stretched thin by change, craving connection, or juggling too much and feeling lost, I’m here to help. I offer a calm and supportive therapeutic space where you can slow down, reflect and make sense of what you are going through.
My approach is integrative, bringing together cognitive behavioural, person centred, psychodynamic and experiential methods including narrative and Gestalt. This gives us the flexibility to shape our sessions around your unique needs, history and goals rather than fitting you into one way of working. I have dual cultural experience being South African and living in the UK and other countries.
My style is collaborative and led by your pace. I aim to help you deepen your understanding of the patterns, emotions and experiences that influence your wellbeing, while also offering practical tools that support meaningful change. Together we explore what is happening for you now as well as the factors that may be contributing beneath the surface, creating space for clarity, healing and growth.
I support clients with a wide range of concerns including anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, relationship and family difficulties, grief, cultural challenges, significant life transitions and expat-related stress (moving countries, relocating). My intention is to help you feel more grounded, resourced and able to move toward personal growth and improved wellbeing.
At the heart of my work is the belief that people heal when they feel heard, understood and empowered. I aim to help you reconnect with your sense of agency and inner strengths so you can move toward a more centred, balanced and meaningful life.
Practice description
I offer online counselling, where I provide a supportive and steady practice where clients have a calm space to pause, reflect and work through what they are facing. My focus is on creating an experience where you feel welcomed, respected and understood from the very first contact.
When you begin therapy with me, we start with a gentle conversation about what has been happening for you and what you hope to gain from our work together. This initial stage is about getting to know you, exploring what feels difficult at the moment and identifying what might help you feel more grounded. I take time to explain how sessions work so you know what to expect and how we can shape therapy around your needs.
As therapy progresses, sessions offer a consistent and confidential space where you can speak openly without judgement. You can expect thoughtful guidance, clear communication and a steady pace that supports insight and emotional safety. I pay close attention to how you are coping both within and beyond the therapy space, checking in regularly so our work remains responsive and aligned with your goals.
Sentra Counselling is grounded in the belief that therapy should feel accessible and centred around you. My intention is to offer a space where you feel supported in navigating your experiences and where meaningful change becomes possible.
Sessions are 50 minutes and take place online for clients across the UK. The practice is inclusive, culturally sensitive and welcoming of people from all backgrounds.
My first session
Your first step will be a free 30 minute online call where we can meet, talk through what has brought you to therapy and get a sense of whether we feel like a good fit. This initial call is simply a chance to connect, ask questions and understand what you are looking for. It also helps me gain a clearer picture of how best to support you.
If you decide to continue, we will then arrange a paid assessment session. This session allows us to explore your concerns in more detail, understand what you would like to work on and begin shaping a therapeutic plan that feels right for you.
After the assessment we can discuss whether short term or long term support would be most beneficial, and agree on a way forward that aligns with your needs, goals and pace.
