Availability

My name is Rebecca and I'm a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Norwich (Taverham). I provide both short and long term person-centred therapy for individuals, either in person or online.

I currently have availability Wednesday to Saturday, please get in contact to arrange a time/day which suits your needs. I try to keep sessions at the same time each week or fortnight.

About me and my therapy practice

I offer a unique counselling experience which will be carefully adapted to suit you and your needs. I will provide a safe, confidential space in which we can work together and build up a therapeutic relationship. My experience stems from years of study and working with a range of diverse people. I understand that trusting someone can be scary and uncomfortable. I will aim to operate a safe and comfortable environment with resources selected to help you be at ease, together with a drink and tissues, allowing you the space to explore what is on your mind.

My founding modality is person-centred counselling (also known as client-centred or Rogerian therapy). This is a form of psychotherapy developed by Carl Rogers. It is based on the belief that individuals have the capacity for self-awareness and the ability to make positive changes in their lives.

I also work with solution-focused brief therapy. This is a goal-orientated and time-limited therapeutic approach that focuses on finding solutions rather than dwelling on problems. It is based on the belief that individuals already possess the resources and strengths necessary to create positive change in their lives.

The goal of counselling is to empower individuals to become more self-aware, develop a stronger sense of self, and make positive changes in their lives. It can be applied to a wide range of issues, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and personal development.

My specialised focus lies in providing empathetic support to individuals navigating past traumas, encompassing areas such as sexual abuse, domestic violence, low self-esteem, self-injury and grief. Through a compassionate and tailored approach, I work collaboratively with you to foster greater self-awareness, enhance emotional resilience, and cultivate a sense of inner peace. Your journey towards healing and self-discovery is at the forefront of our work together.

Practice description

If you're seeking support through life's challenges, you're in the right place. I am a trained professional dedicated to providing empathetic and client-led one-to-one counselling sessions. In our sessions, you can expect client-led conversations where your experiences and feelings guide our discussions. I provide empathetic support to create a safe, warm, and confidential environment for you to explore and understand your emotions.

My first session

I believe in the importance of establishing a strong foundation for our journey together. To ensure we’re the right fit, I offer a complimentary 20-minute online meeting. This provides you with the space to ask questions and share the reasons behind seeking support. The therapeutic relationship we develop is built on trust and honesty, evolving over time at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Within our first session we will go through the therapeutic contract and make sure that everything is understood and agreed. Once this is completed we can continue with our session with you as the client explaining what kind of things are troubling you.

During face to face sessions, I provide fidget toys for you to use and offer you a drink as well as tissues if needed.
