About me and my therapy practice
How I Work
At The Allegory Practice, I view therapy as a collaborative exploration of your story rather than an attempt to “fix” you. You are the expert in your own life; my role is to walk alongside you, illuminate patterns and create space for greater clarity, understanding and self-compassion. I work integratively, drawing on Narrative Therapy, person-centred, psychodynamic, systemic, CBT, trauma-informed and body-based approaches. Together, we can explore what has happened to you and the wider contexts shaping your experiences, including relationships, family dynamics, identity, disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, discrimination and exclusion.
Narrative work sits at the heart of my practice. We explore the stories you have inherited, the meanings you have made of your experiences, and how these may have shaped how you see yourself. We also look for strengths, possibilities and “glimmers” that can become starting points for a different chapter.
Accessibility and flexibility are central to how I work. Sessions take place online or by telephone, with the option to keep your camera on or off. You can attend from wherever feels most comfortable, including from bed. We work at a pace that respects your capacity rather than expecting you to perform wellness.
Our work may include reflection, conversation, practical tools, creative exercises, body awareness, and the development of your own personalised Allegory Toolkit to help you navigate emotions, boundaries, relationships and difficult situations.
I particularly welcome clients navigating trauma, disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, medical trauma or gaslighting, sensory overwhelm, complex family dynamics, identity and relational difficulties.
Ultimately, therapy is about reconnecting with your voice, understanding your story, and exploring what becomes possible when you have space to tell it differently. You are not the problem. The problem is the problem.

What if therapy felt less like being “fixed” and more like finally having a place where your whole story can be heard?
At The Allegory Practice, I offer a warm, collaborative and genuinely accessible space to explore the experiences that have shaped you. I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, help you make sense of what you have experienced, and support you in finding a way forward that feels meaningful to you.
I work integratively, drawing on Narrative Therapy, person-centred, psychodynamic, systemic, CBT, trauma-informed and body-based approaches. This means therapy can be adapted to you rather than expecting you to fit into one model.
Narrative Therapy is at the heart of my practice. Together, we can explore the stories you have been carrying, understand the patterns within them, and separate you from the problems you have been facing. We can also look for the strengths, values and “glimmers” that may have been overlooked along the way.
I particularly work with trauma, disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, medical trauma and gaslighting, sensory overwhelm, complex family dynamics, relationships, identity and experiences of discrimination or exclusion.
Accessibility is not an afterthought in my practice. Sessions are offered online or by telephone, and you can have your camera on or off. You can join from your sofa, desk or bed. We work with your energy, circumstances and capacity, not against them.
Therapy isn't about becoming someone else. It is about understanding yourself more deeply, making sense of your experiences and reconnecting with your own voice.
Your story matters. You deserve a safe place to tell it.
My first session
My first session details
Your first session is a little different. Rather than jumping straight into ongoing therapy, I offer an Allegory Assessment (£60): a dedicated space to pause, regroup, and understand the bigger picture of where you are now.
Together, we’ll explore your current circumstances, what has changed since previous therapy or significant life events, wider family and relationship dynamics, health and wellbeing, interpersonal patterns, and what you would like to work towards.
This isn't about reducing your story to a checklist or asking you to retell everything at once. It is about creating a shared understanding of what is happening for you now and identifying the areas that feel most important to explore.
We will also review our therapeutic agreement, discuss how we will work together, consider what you need from therapy, and ensure the approach feels safe, accessible and appropriate for you.
At the end of the assessment, we will begin to co-create a personalised summary that sets the scene for our work and gives us a clear therapeutic direction moving forward.
Think of it as resetting the compass before beginning the next chapter.
If you have worked with me previously, the Allegory Assessment can also provide an opportunity to revisit where we left off, acknowledge what has changed, and open a new chapter rather than simply returning to the old one.

About me and my therapy practice
I’m an integrative therapist with over a decade of experience supporting people through complex emotional and relational difficulties. I work from a person-centred foundation, drawing on psychodynamic, systemic, CBT, Gestalt and narrative approaches depending on your needs.
I believe therapy should be a space where you can be understood without judgement and where your experiences are taken seriously. My approach is collaborative, compassionate and trauma-informed. Rather than simply focusing on symptoms, I’m interested in understanding the wider story of your life, including your relationships, experiences, identity, environment and the systems around you.
I have particular experience working with trauma, attachment and relational difficulties, bereavement, identity, neurodivergence, disability and chronic illness. I also understand that living with disability or long-term health conditions can bring experiences of grief, isolation, medical gaslighting, discrimination and feeling misunderstood. I aim to offer a space where you don't have to constantly explain or justify your experiences.
Narrative therapy is an important part of my practice. I see our lives as stories shaped by our experiences, relationships, and the meanings we give them. Therapy can provide an opportunity to gently explore those stories, notice patterns, reconnect with your strengths, and consider alternative ways of understanding yourself and your experiences.
I offer therapy online and by telephone, with accessibility and individual needs taken into account throughout our work together.
Most importantly, I see therapy as something we do with each other, rather than something I do to you. You remain the expert in your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you as we make sense of what has brought you here.
Practice description
I offer a warm, compassionate and collaborative therapeutic space where you can explore whatever has brought you to therapy at your own pace. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, neurodivergence, disability and chronic illness.
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic modalities to meet you as an individual rather than expecting you to fit into one particular model. I have a person-centred foundation and incorporate psychodynamic, systemic, CBT, Gestalt and narrative approaches where appropriate.
I believe that your experiences make sense within the context of your life. Together, we can explore not only what you are experiencing, but also the relationships, experiences and wider circumstances that may have shaped how you see yourself and the world around you.
I have a particular interest in working with people who have felt misunderstood, dismissed or unheard, including those living with disability, chronic illness and neurodivergence. I aim to provide a disability-affirming and trauma-informed space where you do not have to minimise, justify or defend your experiences.
Therapy is a collaborative process. I won't tell you how you should live your life or assume I know what is best for you. Instead, I will work alongside you to understand what matters to you, identify patterns, explore possibilities and develop a greater sense of agency.
I offer sessions online and by telephone and will work with you to consider accessibility and adjustments that may help you engage with therapy comfortably.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to therapy. We can discuss what you would like support with, what you hope to gain from therapy, and what feels important for me to understand about your experiences.
I will explain how I work, including confidentiality, boundaries, communication and practical arrangements, and we can discuss any questions or concerns you may have about therapy.
There is no expectation that you arrive with everything figured out or know exactly what you want to talk about. You can take your time, and we can work together to identify where it might be helpful to begin.
Where appropriate, I may invite you to complete an initial assessment so that I can better understand your circumstances, needs and goals. This is not a test or diagnosis; it simply helps us build a clearer picture of what support may be useful.
I also welcome conversations about accessibility from the beginning. If you have a disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence or any other needs that may affect how you engage with therapy, we can discuss reasonable adjustments and ways of making our sessions work for you.
The first session is also an opportunity for you to decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you. Therapy is a collaborative relationship, and feeling comfortable, respected and heard is important.

Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Adoption, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Baby loss, Bereavement, Body/somatic therapy, Cancer, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Coercive control, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Mood disorder, Narcissism, Neurodiversity, Personal development, Pet bereavement, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sensory impairment, Severe mental illness (SMI), Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stalking, Stress, Trauma, Vegan allied, Women's issues, Work related issues

At the end of the assessment, we will begin co-creating a personalised summary that sets the scene for our work and provides a clear therapeutic direction moving forward.
Think of it as resetting the compass before beginning the next chapter.
If you have worked with me previously, the Allegory Assessment can also provide an opportunity to revisit where we left off, acknowledge what has changed, and open a new chapter rather than simply returning to the old one.
