About me and my therapy practice
Things can feel hard when you're dealing with loss, change, anxiety or personal difficulties. Do you find yourself struggling or bottling things up? I offer a supportive space to talk things through and find a way forward.
Life can bring unexpected changes and challenges. You may be dealing with bereavement or another significant loss, or adjusting to changes in family life, work, health, responsibilities, identity or the future you had imagined.
You may find that anxiety is affecting your everyday life, or that you're struggling with grief, frustration or loneliness. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed, as though you've lost a part of yourself, or you're finding it difficult to understand how you feel and what comes next.
Perhaps you feel you have to stay strong for everyone else, keep your feelings to yourself and put others first, until it feels like you could explode. You may feel like you've lost your voice, your confidence or a sense of who you are.
How counselling can help
Counselling is a chance to have some time for yourself, to talk openly about what you’re experiencing, make sense of how you’re feeling and explore what you need. Here are a few of the ways it can help:
• Finding ways to cope with life’s challenges, changes or loss while gradually rebuilding your confidence.
• Managing anxiety so it doesn't hold you back from living a fuller life.
• Communicating your needs and feelings more openly so you can feel heard and less frustrated.
• Understanding how past experiences may be influencing you now and exploring what you want for the future, so you can feel more like yourself.
You don’t have to know exactly what you need or have the right words. We can work that out together.
Practice description
My approach
I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, particularly when you’re already struggling. I’ll welcome you with respect and compassion, and we can take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you. As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches and tailor our work to your individual needs and experiences.
If you’d like to talk, please get in touch to arrange a free 20 minute introductory telephone conversation.
I offer counselling to adults aged 18 and over, my counselling room is in Rugby, Warwickshire, however I offer sessions online across the UK. You can contact me by email, phone or text. If you call, please leave a message with your number and I’ll get back to you. I usually respond to enquiries within 48 hours. If you’re waiting for an email reply, please check your spam or junk folder.
My experience
I have over 25 years’ experience working in education and social care, supporting children, teenagers and adults with a wide range of needs and challenges, from learning disabilities to end-of-life care. This experience has given me a real understanding of the many struggles people may face at different stages of life. It has also taught me the importance of respect, empathy and giving people the space to make their own choices and decide what feels right for them.
Sometimes life takes us somewhere we didn’t expect. Although change can feel scary, there can also be opportunities to understand ourselves differently and find a way forward. Going to university in my 40s helped me realise that it’s never too late to make plans, change direction or start over.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute introductory telephone call where you can ask any questions and we can explore what has brought you to counselling. This gives us a chance to get to know each other a little and see whether we both feel that working together would be a good fit.
If we decide to go ahead, the first session is an initial consultation. We’ll have some paperwork to complete and discuss how we’ll work together. Sessions are 50 minutes.
I have a limited number of concessionary spaces available for those who may find the full fee difficult to pay. Please feel free to ask about these when you get in touch.
