About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life changes us in ways we never expected.

The death of someone we love, the loss of an animal companion, difficult experiences from the past, illness, relationship changes, retirement, caring responsibilities, or other major life transitions can leave us feeling lost, overwhelmed, or disconnected from who we once were.

You may feel as though you are carrying too much, struggling to understand your emotions, or wondering why things feel harder than they should. Perhaps you have spent years coping, supporting others, or appearing to manage, but inside you feel exhausted, stuck, or unsure of what you need.

Many people come to therapy believing they should be coping better, or wondering why they can't simply "move on". Often, as we begin to understand your experiences and the story behind them, things start to make more sense.

You may be carrying more than anyone should have to carry on their own.

Therapy offers the opportunity to slow down, to feel heard, and to begin making sense of whatever you're living with, without judgement or pressure. You don't need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. You don't need the perfect words or a clear explanation of why you're struggling. We can begin wherever you are.

I support adults who are navigating grief, trauma, anxiety, low self-worth, relationship difficulties, burnout, and significant changes in their lives. Together, we can gently explore your experiences, become curious about the ways you've learned to cope, and discover what you need now. My hope is that, over time, you'll begin to feel more like yourself again.

I aim to offer a calm, accepting space where you don't have to pretend you're coping, and where you can feel genuinely heard and understood.

Practice description

I believe that therapy begins with connection. Feeling safe enough to be yourself, without judgement or pressure, is an important part of the therapeutic process.

My approach is collaborative and led by you. I won't tell you what you should feel or what you need to do. Instead, I'll work alongside you with curiosity, compassion and respect, taking the time to understand your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

My core training is in person-centred counselling, which means I place great importance on empathy, acceptance and the therapeutic relationship. Alongside this, I work in a trauma-informed way, recognising that everyone has their own story, and paying careful attention to emotional safety, trust and pacing.

Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as a teacher in both the UK and Asia, supporting young people both academically and pastorally. Growing up across different countries and cultures shaped my understanding of identity, belonging and the many different experiences that influence who we become.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor for a well-established charity supporting adults experiencing bereavement, trauma, domestic abuse and other significant life challenges.

I have a particular interest in grief and loss, including pet bereavement. My master's research explored the human-animal bond and the emotional impact of losing an animal companion. I understand that this grief can be profound and deeply painful, particularly when it isn't always recognised or understood by others.

I don't believe therapy is about fixing people. I believe it's about creating the space to understand yourself with greater compassion, make sense of your experiences, and recognise the strengths that may have been hidden beneath everything you've been carrying.

Therapy can provide a place to pause, reflect, and begin moving towards a life that feels more like your own.
