About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor with a genuine passion for supporting people through life’s challenges. With a background in HR, I have spent many years offering guidance and support with empathy, compassion and respect. I understand how difficult it can be to open up, and I aim to create a space where you feel safe, heard and truly understood.
I work with people of all ages and backgrounds, and my natural curiosity and sensitivity help me to build strong, trusting relationships. As an integrative practitioner, I draw on a range of counselling approaches and tailor our work to suit you as an individual. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach — we will work collaboratively at a pace that feels right for you.
I have experience supporting adults and children with a wide range of concerns, including relationship difficulties, anxiety, addiction, bereavement, and feelings of being stuck, overwhelmed or lost.
In our one-to-one sessions, you will have the opportunity to share your story in a supportive and non-judgemental environment. Together, we can explore your experiences, make sense of past events, and gain insight into patterns of thoughts and behaviours. My aim is to help you feel more empowered, develop healthier coping strategies, and move towards positive and meaningful change in your life.
Practice description
My practice is based in a private, well-positioned counselling room in my garden, offering a calm and welcoming environment away from the distractions of everyday life. The space is warm, comfortable and thoughtfully arranged to help you feel at ease from the moment you arrive.
The room provides a quiet, confidential setting where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions safely and without judgement. I understand how important privacy is when beginning counselling, and I have created a space that feels secure, supportive and separate from the main household. Off-road parking is available for your convenience, and there is discreet access to the counselling room to help you feel comfortable and maintain your privacy.
I also recognise that it is not always easy to find the right words, particularly when emotions feel overwhelming or unfamiliar. To support this, I offer a range of creative resources that can help you express yourself in different ways. These include feeling and emotion cards, opportunities for drawing or visual expression, fidget objects to help steady nerves, and the option of using music where appropriate. These tools can gently support the therapeutic process and help you communicate at your own pace.
In our work together, you can expect warmth, empathy and genuine care. I aim to build a trusting relationship where you feel heard, respected and understood. I work collaboratively and at a pace that feels right for you, supporting you to explore your experiences, gain insight into patterns of thought and behaviour, and move towards positive and meaningful change — always within a safe, non-judgemental space where you are free to be yourself.
My first session
The initial session lasts 30 minutes and is a relaxed “getting to know you” time for both client and counsellor. This is an opportunity to explore what brings you to counselling, what you hope to achieve, and how often you would like to attend. I also like to discuss how you feel about counselling, whether this is your first experience or if you have attended before, so that you can ask any questions about the process, how I work, or anything else within reason.
Connection is at the heart of counselling, and this first session is an important chance for us to begin building a trusting relationship. Establishing this connection provides the foundation for the work we will do together and helps create a safe and supportive space where you feel understood and heard.
During this session, I will outline the counselling agreement, which helps ensure clarity and understanding for both of us. You will also be asked to complete a client information form to provide essential details for our work together. The focus of this first meeting is to help you feel comfortable, informed, and ready to begin the process of meaningful change.
