About me and my therapy practice
Are you trying to work out how to take the next step, wondering who can help with the challenges, the stuckness, the "I don't know what to do/how to handle this?" If so the first step is for us to have a free 20 minute introductory call to see how it feels to talk to me. To trust your instinct, about how that call feels, is the first step in a therapeutic relationship and the strength of that relationship has been shown to be the best indicator for successful therapy.
We can explore what it is you need and want, the patterns which keep you stuck, how change might feel, what acceptance might look like, how living life more fully could be.
I believe that feelings of anxiety and depression stem from life circumstances, from loss, disconnection, life transitions, such as divorce or bereavement, and challenges which have left you feeling unseen and unheard. Therapy is a space in which to be heard.
My first career was as a Divorce and Family Lawyer so I have substantial experience in dealing with the emotional turmoil this often creates and in contact and residence orders. (I am a qualified mediator.)
Alongside my private practice, I volunteer in a local hospice, meeting with those whose loved one has died and helping them to process their grief.
My client's have valued my ability to help them find their own solutions; to recognise their own worth; to listen, without judgement; to learn self-compassion; my empathy and calm; but primarily for feeling heard.
I provide a safe, trusting, non-judgemental relationship.
Practice description
I offer therapy in many forms but where possible my preference is for face to face sessions. These are non-directive sessions with regular reviews to ensure that we meet your expectations and as an integrative, relational therapist, I tailor the therapy to your specific needs.
I work with a wide range of issues. I believe that most people come to therapy because they have not been compassionately heard.
I wonder how you would feel to be truly heard in a supportive, safe, space just for you?
My first session
It may help to talk before we meet so I offer a free 20 minute introductory zoom/or call to explore what brings you into therapy and whether you feel comfortable to work with me. A sense of trust is essential for effective therapy but that takes time to grow.
Whether you need a few sessions to help you get your head round your present challenge, or longer term therapy, we can work that out together. Our sessions can evolve as you need.
In our first session we will take time to get to know one another. I will want to ask you about what brings you here today, who you grew up with, your present circumstances, and your hopes and expectations of our sessions, amongst other things. We will also talk through and sign an agreement setting out how we will work together so that you are clear of the boundaries.
It is also an opportunity for you to raise your questions. In our future sessions I will leave it to you to choose how you would like to spend our time together.
I maybe able to offer concessionary rates if you are a student or would otherwise struggle with my fees. Please do talk to me about this.
What I can help with
