About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor and I specialise in working with young adults between the ages of 18 and 25. I have chosen to work with this age group because back in my university days, I realised that there was a mental health crisis amongst the young, and I wanted to do something about it. I’m really aware of the pressures faced, including rapid societal changes, academic and career pressures, and the impact of social media. I understand the stress caused by this age of comparison and competitiveness amongst peers that contribute to feelings of inadequacy and anxiety.
I am dedicated to fostering a warm, compassionate, and inclusive space where you are invited to share your whole self in a safe and validating environment. Human diversity is a wonderful aspect of life, and I strive to adjust my approach to meet your unique needs. I primarily work relationally, and I think the most important thing is that, at the core, we’re just two people meeting and connecting as humans.
As a humanistic therapist, I hold that we all possess the capacity to lead meaningful and satisfying lives, but sometimes we encounter obstacles and difficult life experiences that cause us to become stuck along the way. I see my role as walking alongside you, guiding us to uncover potential blind spots that we can explore together. I believe in the power of a meaningful and authentic bond between myself and the people I work with and will give precedence to the quality of the relationship we build. I believe collaborative positive change can be fostered with empathy and openness, rather than judgement or criticism.
