About me and my therapy practice
I offer longer-term online counselling for adults who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or affected by past experiences, and want the space to understand themselves more deeply over time.
I offer a calm, supportive and down-to-earth space where we can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace, while building a consistent and meaningful therapeutic relationship.
I’m not a blank canvas in the room — I’m a real person, and I believe genuine human connection is central to therapy feeling safe and helpful.
I work with a range of experiences, including anxiety, low mood, stress, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, trauma, low self-esteem, and feeling stuck or disconnected. You don’t need to have the “right words” or know where to begin — we can start wherever you are.
My approach is integrative and relational, drawing on psychodynamic thinking, person-centred values, attachment theory and trauma-informed practice. I also incorporate ideas from Polyvagal Theory to help make sense of how your nervous system responds to stress, safety and connection.
I work actively and collaboratively, and may gently bring in reflective or creative ways of exploring things where helpful. Over time, we can begin to understand patterns, including how past experiences may still be shaping how you feel and relate today.
The therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my work. I aim to offer a space where you feel heard, accepted and understood, without judgement.
Practice description
In our sessions, we work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There’s no expectation to have a clear starting point — you’re welcome to bring whatever feels most important, whether that’s something specific or a general sense that things don’t feel quite right.
Sessions are a space for open exploration. We might focus on what’s happening in your life now, as well as look at past experiences, relationships, or patterns that may be influencing how you feel. Over time, this can help build understanding and support meaningful change.
I work in an engaged and collaborative way. I may offer reflections, observations, or gentle challenge where it feels helpful, while always respecting your boundaries and pace. Some sessions may be more conversational, while others may involve pausing and reflecting more deeply.
There’s no pressure to share more than you feel ready to. Building trust takes time, and we can go at a pace that feels right for you.
Sessions take place online, offering a consistent and private space to talk. We would usually meet weekly at an agreed time.
If you’d like to explore whether this feels like the right fit, you’re very welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other and to explore what has brought you to counselling.
You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. We might talk about what’s currently going on for you, any relevant past experiences, and what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. There’s no expectation to have everything clearly defined — we can take this at your pace.
I may ask some gentle questions to help build an initial understanding of your situation, but this isn’t a formal assessment. The focus is on creating a space where you feel comfortable and able to start talking.
We will also look at how I work, including practical details such as confidentiality, session structure, and boundaries, so you know what to expect going forward.
The first session is also a chance for you to get a sense of whether working together feels right for you. There’s no obligation to continue, and you’re welcome to take time afterwards to decide.
If you have any questions before starting, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
