About me and my therapy practice
With over 25 years’ experience supporting children, young people, and adults, I work from an integrative approach, tailoring therapy to each client’s individual needs. From an early curiosity about the mind and human behaviour, I trained in Psychology (BSc Hons) and Special and Inclusive Education (MSc), driven by a passion for supporting neurodivergent individuals.
Alongside my studies, I volunteered as a student counsellor with Nightline and worked with the charity Mind during and after my training. I combine this experience with a love of the arts, using creative methods to help clients express and explore feelings that may be hard to put into words. I also value the restorative qualities of nature, incorporating connection with the natural environment as a gentle and grounding complement to therapy where appropriate.
I regularly engage in continuing professional development and wider reading, reflecting on new ideas and therapeutic approaches while consolidating existing concepts. This ensures my practice remains informed, flexible, and tailored to support clients effectively. I aim to offer a collaborative, client-led approach, creating a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental space where clients feel safe to explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and experience the positive benefits of therapy
Practice description
This practice supports children, young people, and adults experiencing anxiety, low mood, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Sessions take place in a welcoming, supportive environment, allowing clients to share at their own pace. Both in person and online sessions are offered, providing flexibility to suit individual needs and circumstances.
A variety of integrative approaches are used, including arts based therapy, which can help explore feelings in creative and safe ways. Where suitable, connection with nature is encouraged, supporting grounding and overall wellbeing.
Reflective practice and continuing professional development are important, with new ideas and therapeutic tools integrated alongside established concepts to ensure a responsive and informed approach. Therapy is a collaborative journey, tailored to each person’s unique experiences and strengths. Open communication and mutual respect are prioritised, providing a nurturing space to reflect, develop coping strategies, gain insight, and experience the benefits of therapy in daily life.
