About me and my therapy practice
I'm a BACP registered psychotherapeutic counsellor based in Putney, Fulham and online who works with people who:
- Struggle with anxiety, overthinking, intrusive thoughts or obsessive behaviours.
- Experience perfectionism, self-criticism, or lack of self-esteem.
- Feel overwhelmed by life or lost.
- Have unresolved pain from the past.
- Want to change their relationship patterns.
- Notice people-pleasing tendencies.
Sometimes it can be hard to talk to friends and family about what you’re going through. You might worry about their judgement or think there’s something wrong with you and it feels awkward or embarrassing to open up. Equally, you might not be sure what's wrong, but know that something just doesn't feel quite right.
Practice description
The goal of therapy is not to 'fix' your anxiety or push it away, but to find a new way of relating to it that will, in time, soften it and make it feel less all-consuming. Therapy isn't about someone else giving you the answers, instead you will learn how to be more mindful of your current experience, discover the most authentic version of yourself and learn how to live by it.
I work with adults and young adults to help them with feelings of anxiety, shame and loneliness. My experience includes working with people who suffer from social anxiety, relationship anxiety, anxiety attached to an ADHD diagnosis, people-pleasing, and obsessive compulsive behaviours.
By listening deeply to your experience, I will use my skills and our therapeutic relationship to:
- Explore self-limiting core beliefs
- Discover deeper layers of yourself
- Find understanding and meaning in existing patterns of behaviour
- Work on emotional regulation and well-being
The way I work will be tailored to you, some of the above might not appeal to you, while others might sound just what you need. But underpinning all my sessions is compassion and curiosity, and the relationship we form. By creating a warm and stable space to support you, I hope you will feel heard, seen and able to find new ways of facing your challenges, so you can live more authentically and peacefully.
My first session
I offer a free 15-20 minute video call for all new clients to see if we are a good fit to work together. Once we have agreed to do so, we will meet at the same time each week either in-person or online. The first session will involve me going through my contract and together we will set shared goals for your therapy. I often start by going backwards with clients, and will ask you to help me gain better understanding of what makes you you, and what key events or people have influenced that.
Following this, you will be invited to lead our sessions, bringing whatever feels most pressing each week. I will facilitate the sessions by bringing in interventions from CBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic and Person-Centred theoretical models. This might involve me gently challenging unhelpful thoughts, or highlight contradictions, we might explore what's happening in your body or look for patterns of behaviour that aren't serving you anymore. Sometimes I will offer my insights, or suggest some coping mechanisms to help with grounding, but I won't ever tell you what to do or give advice.
