About me and my therapy practice

I am an Integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, which means I draw from various modalitities/approaches depending on what you need and what we decide best fits.  Primarily I have a person-centred approach which means you are supported with empathy, and respect in working out the best solutions for your difficulties, to find what works most comfortably for you, uncovering your resources, accessing your strengths, needs and helping you develop confidence in your ability to manage life's challenges.  I also draw from the psychodynamic approach, helping you explore your early relationships and how they impact and influence your sense of self and your current relationship patterns.  To support our work, I will often suggest some CBT strategies, to identify patterns of behaviour, thought and to manage anxiety, panic and/or stress.  Mindfulness is fundamental to my approach and to many of the modalities I work within, connecting to yourself is the key to transformation and the practices of breath awarenes and self-compasssion are fundamental in effectively accessing your inner resources and working towards self-regulation and self-actualisation.  We will collaborate on finding the best way forward for you, reflecting on our progress regularly and adjusting our strategies, reviewing any goals, and restating intentions as we proceed.

Practice description

I have a practice room in Berkely Street, Glasgow near the Mitchell Library, within a quiet building with other therapy rooms.  I also offer online sessions via Zoom.  We will collaborate on deciding the appropriate number of sessions, usually an inital 6, with a review as we approach 6, deciding to work towards ending or allocating further sessions as required.  We will start with an initial assessment of your presenting issues and then work out our approach from there and review as we proceed through the sessions.  You will have control of our direction and progress and we will collaborate on our approach and our focus.

My first session

I offer a free initial 20 minute consultation via phone call or Zoom.  This helps us decide if we are a good 'fit'.

In our first full session, we will do a more in depth assessment, go over house-keeping, re times and cancellation policy, ethical practices etc.
