About me and my therapy practice

Hello! I'm Ester Cunill, a dedicated and compassionate CBT psychotherapist with a passion for helping individuals navigate the complexities of their mental health. With a background in different type of therapies and extensive experience in the field, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice. It's worth noting that I provide sessions in English, Spanish, and Catalan, ensuring a personalized and inclusive approach to your mental well-being journey.

My journey to mental health has led me to work closely with victims of modern slavery and trafficking over the past four years. This invaluable experience has provided me with a profound understanding of PTSD and complex trauma, shaping my approach to therapy.

Currently, I am engaged in the role of a PGdip supervisor, overseeing the development of child well-being practitioners. This role allows me to contribute to the growth and proficiency of future professionals in the field, a responsibility I hold with great care.

I've also been actively involved as a CBT therapist in the Bromley Community Centre, where I continue to work with clients. My commitment to the community extends to my current position in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) within the Youth Partnership Service. Here, I specialize in working with adolescents and children, applying my expertise to address a wide range of mental health challenges.

I tailor my interventions to the individual needs and preferences of each client, fostering a therapeutic alliance and creating a safe and supportive environment. By employing a variety of therapeutic techniques and exercises, I enable clients to enhance their emotional regulation, coping skills, and resilience. My mission is to guide clients towards a deeper understanding of themselves and their potential, and to support them in achieving their personal and therapeutic goals.

Practice description

My approach is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), combined with the innovative techniques of the third wave. CBT serves as a map to understand the interconnected nature of our thoughts, feelings, physical sensations, and actions. It helps us break free from unhelpful cycles where negative thoughts lead to distressing emotions, influencing our actions and relationships. Within CBT, we delve into the past to uncover origins and subtle beliefs fuelling patterns responsible for current issues. By reshaping thought and behaviour, CBT aims to improve emotional well-being and social interactions. My carefully crafted third wave CBT adopts a holistic approach, using a toolbox of techniques such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Schema Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), among others. These interventions, beyond traditional CBT, prioritize the overall well-being of our minds and bodies, leading you to a happier and healthier version of yourself.
